Derana the Ghostspeaker

Derana Tonasog was an ancient Zirun priest who lived in the city of Nefka many centuries ago. Now, she is a resurrected ghost-like spirit called a Vestige who appears when summoned by Arzet Devadov to aid him on his quest.
Derana is a pessimistic idealist, who believes that those in power have a duty to help those without power but is skeptical of anyone in any institutional position. She is a suspicious person, prone to expecting the worst from people. At the same time she urges Arzet to be better with the power he was born with as the Chimera incarnated.
Derana died in her own mortal life standing against power: she was a priest, omen-reader, and attendant of the Vault of Nightmares who stood against the use of the Vault as a tool of punishment by the First Empire of Nefka and ancient warlord Kortin the Iron. She went too far in chastising the Emperor and was sentenced to death by the very means she had rebuked: she was bound, drugged, and left in the Vault of Nightmares to die. She died enraged that her own fellow priests stood by and even helped as this tool for divine communion and self-testing was used as a form of brutal execution. Ironic way to die, when she had been training to successfully undergo the Vault's ordeal and would likely have survived if not hampered.
Derana, as a priest who attended both the cults of Tonia the Earth Mother and Vitoza the Father of Sky and Underworld, did a lot of work caring for the dead and dying. This is reflected in her demand.
Powers Granted:

• Can cast 'Speak with Dead' as a ritual spell; can cast it once per short rest as a single action. Can defy normal spell limitations, at a cost
• Immunity to magical Fear effects

Quirk:

• While bound, Derana demands that the user bury or otherwise give honors to any dead sapient body in sight.
