President Rex Blanc

As of 0099, Blanc is one of the two president of the Earth-Mars Federation, representing Mars. He is notable for serving his fourth 10 year term, the first to do so since the founding of the Federation. Previous presidents have been limited to two terms in office but thanks to a bill introduced and passed by ex-presiden, now senator Mie Om in 0078.   A massively popular president in the inner planets, Blanc has outlasted three different co-presidents and won the last four presidential elections with little to no real competition. On his homeworld of Mars, he is celebrated as a national father figure and very well liked by the voting citizens. Even the lesser privileged spacenoids born on colonies close to Mars sphere of influence cannot help but get sweep into the nationalistic pride and charismatic personality of the old president.   On Earth, opinions on the Marsian president differ. Whilst few outright hate Blanc and his politics, thereĀ“s some dissent agains his seemingly endless time in power and many of the less fortunate complain that the Federation has moved in a more Mars-centric direction since his rise to power. Whether real or perceived, the critique has made little impact where it truly matters, since most of the deciding vote is laid by the wealthy and influential citizens in the capitals of Earth.   As one travels farther out from the light of the sun, the support for Blanc fades and eventually turns to distain and hatred in the furthest reaches of the human sphere. Little to no of the laws, freedoms and benefits of the Federation reach the spacenoids living out their lives in the colonies beyond the asteroid belt. With President Blanc being the most prominent and longest ruling Federation official in memory he has become the focus of the outer colonies critiques and gets the blame for almost anything making life hard for the unlucky millions with no voting rights and under Federation rule.
