Arguably the most well known MS pilot of all time, he was feared and respected in equal measure by both the Federation and Zeon . While little is know about Char Aznable, what is known is that he first gained notoriety in the Alliance of Zeon´s self-defence forces shortly before the destruction of Zeon. There he quickly rose through the ranks, proving himself as both an skilled leader and tactician as well as an ace pilot. While parts of the civilian leadership in Zeon wavered after Racha Zum Zien´s passing, more and more civilians looked to the military leadership for stability and with charismatic officers like Char Aznable at the helm the Zeon military eventually surpassed the civilian party in power within the Alliance of Zeon. Char Aznable's skills in politics soon became evident as he gained enough fame to become essentially unstoppable by his political opponents. Some have called this cult of personality around Char "artificial" and make the claim that Chars rise to power was orchestrated by those who would rather keep to the shadows. No proof of this has ever surfaced, but with the destruction of Zeon - Colony L5 just a few years later its's possible that all evidence was lost with Zeon as a state. After the devastating loss of the Zeon home colony, Char became the de-facto leader for the faction during the 2 year conflict that became known as Char´s Rebellion. During the conflict the Federation went to extreme lengths to try and stop Zeon and kill Char Aznable. The final defeat of Char and his last remain Zeon forces is shrouded in secrecy. The Federation special force known as Behemoth is credited with hunting down and destroying Char, but very little is publicly known about his current whereabouts although he is presumed dead.
