Behemoth
Under the direct command of the Earth-Mars Federation High Command, Behemoth is a military within the military. They are charged with tracking down and destroying Neo-Zeon remnants, wherever they may be found. The official mandate of Behemoth is to investigate and prevent terrorist attacks by "Zeon-extremists". To do this they were made into their own, entirely separate branch of the Federation military and operate by their own rules, with their own equipment and without the need for authorization from anyone but the High Command.
In their role as a counter-terrorism unit they have been ruthless, rumoured to leave no witnesses and utilizing sudden and overwhelming force on any spacenoid suspected to be a Zeon resistance fighter.
Over the years Behemoth has become more and more separate from the rest of the Federation military, equipping their soldiers with specialized wargear, customized or prototype mobile-suits and even their own, unique uniform. Officers of the regular Federation military has expressed concern at this divide and also raised voices against the brutal and almost rouge behaviour of Behemoth, but these voices are quickly silenced by High Command.
