Shikigami | Familiars
Shikigami are servent spirits specially made by the gods to aid them in maintaining their domains (pocket dimensions and what they preside over).
There are many, many, many types of shikigami.
Note: kitsune were originally all shikigami
Sometimes shikigami exit the service of their creator god and live like any other species, which is part of the reason why there are many interesting or odd species in the world.
