Arton

The once quaint settlement of Corthalia is now a booming metropolis. Smog regulaly covers the city and chokes the surrounding area. It merges with the stench of the Stomach of Silvestri to become a noxious cloud of poison.

As this developed with the introduction of fast-fashion and textile factories, the shindar, sworn protectors of magic and nature, attempted to stop these industries from spreading or at least stem their waste production. When their efforts were in vain, the Shindar took it upon themselves to incinerate a prominant textile factory, starting a long war. The kicker? Arton simply rebuilt thet place and is going strong, though with a few Eco-friendly improvements.

Government

Arton is governed by an expansive police force, mayor and executive branch. Three city courthouses are located around the center. The legislative boddy is comprised of a 20 person counsul of people, one from each race, and another from the majority races of the city. The .ower branch is a body of 30 people, one per precingt.

Defences

The police force hs some of the more advanced weaponry that police forces are allowed to have. The city isalso defended by a natural moat ofsmog and wallsof highly-seccured gated communities discouraging entry. There are no walls, but the city is easily defensible.

Industry & Trade

?Arton is a major producer of polyester and nylon. It also has a large seafood tourist industry. Arton also has a few large stadiums which they can rent out to bands and other performers.

Infrastructure

Several textile faactories run by wind turbines clot the city's aair with waste gasses. Several coal power plants also spew sog., but in far lessewr quantities than a few centuries earlier. The sewage system empties into a resevoir which is then purged magically to release energy and recycle the remaining material into mulch.

Assets

The city has a GDP of over 53 hundred thousand Varrots, the current Serodechian urrency. They use this to purchase more police cars, build more confusigng roads with the occasional roundabout to ease traffic, and a well-armored state militia.

Guilds and Factions

There are three official political parties in Arton, the Coalition of Responsible Mages, the Coalition of Philanthropic Activists, and the Old Lives party that includes most immortal races and those that support a simpler way of life. Additionally, there are a few collegiate suburbs, one of which is a Star League school. Three varieties of sports compete for space on tv and seafood trade industry runs the tourist market.

History

Origional Corthalian colony that was at the forefront of industrial development when the Empress declared that the people who live outside of Corthalia proper are not subject to the religion-based architecture laws. When Serodechia became an independent nation, they instantly involved themselves in the War for Nature on the side of industry, due to the destruction of an Artonese textile factory.

Architecture

Artonese architecture looks a lot like New York sans the Empire State building. Most fof the Grecian architecture is replaced with smooth wooden panneling mimicing Corthalian architecutre.

Geography

Arton sits in the middle of a palm-dotted plain on the east coast of Serodechia. It has very flat terrain around it, but some of the roads rie three stories above the natural ground. Arton is also on the oceanic floodplain. Most of the seaside houses are on stilts.

Fish, grain, clay and tubers from the neighboring marsh.
