The Savant
From the outside, this tavern appears more like a stately residence than a place of drink and merriment. Within, it is a haven for scholars, professors, and sages, a place where the learned of Greyhawk gather for intellectual debate over fine drink.
The Savant’s interior is a labyrinth of private chambers, each adorned with bookshelves lined with worn tomes. Most tables enjoy semi-private alcoves, where small groups engage in quiet, but impassioned discourse.
An Intellectual Refuge
The atmosphere is hushed, illuminated only by the soft glow of oil lanterns at each table, which can be brightened for reading. Conversations range from the arcane mysteries of Oerth to economic theories and historical debates—with wagers often placed on the outcome of philosophical arguments.
While in recent years a few learned gentlewomen have begun to frequent the establishment, the traditional patrons remain resistant to this change. Nonetheless, the Savant endures, a sanctuary of knowledge in a city of bold adventurers and reckless ambition.
