Gnarlyhouse
Predating even the outer walls of the Free City, this once-grand manor takes its name from a massive oak stump that once stood before it.
Over the years, it has seen many roles—inn, brothel, and schoolhouse—but today, it is home to the most infamous student fraternity in Clerkburg.
The self-proclaimed "Gnarlys" have long abandoned any pretense of scholarship, instead embracing a rowdy and hedonistic existence. The crumbling mansion is a wreck, its windows boarded up, its furniture reduced to kindling, and its yard overgrown with weeds. There is a 75% chance, day or night, that 1d8+1 members lounge on the porch, eager to taunt passersby—especially women or lone travelers.
Led by the brash and brawling Horst Manual, the Gnarlys number around twenty-five. Though untrained in formal combat, they are experienced in fistfighting, wrestling, and tavern brawling, functioning as 1st-level fighters in unarmed combat but dropping to level 0 if real weapons are involved.
The Gnarlyhouse lifestyle revolves around excessive drinking, disruptive parties, and relentless mischief. Many of its members are dropouts, while others attend only the most lax tutorial schools. Any stat block for a Gnarly should shift points from Intelligence and Wisdom to Strength and Constitution, better reflecting their brash, headstrong nature.
