Gehenna Station

In orbit of Hades, Gehenna station is a large and ever-expanding habitat. Ever-expanding, because there seems to be no end to the criminals inhabiting the outer orbits.   A full justice system in one place, Gehenna Station has its own investigators, police, and judges on retainer, who use approximately a fourth of the station's space to go about their business. The rest of the station is used as cellblocks for hundreds to thousands of prisoners, most of which will never leave once they arrive.    Gehenna is reserved for the worst of the worst, not a single inmate has anything less than a life sentence, and the vast majority have life sentences lined up like dominos. They are violent, brutal, and many of them are likely dangerously unstable if not completely insane.    Every cell is its own individual solitary confinement, though they're large enough to house two people. A transparent metal wall separates any inmates assigned the same cell, though no sound travels through, and the can be made opaque at a moments notice, completing the solitude. Guards, at every opportunity, remain divorced from the general population. Using drones or other proxies to patrol and control the inmates. When they do have to interact, they go in as groups and heavily armed.    While the station is owned by Blight almost every other power in the solar system, including governments, companies, and the more powerful tribes, contract out cell space and contribute to the stations running so as to have a place that they can place their people who would...fit in, in a place like Gehenna.   To be assigned to Gehenna Station is to have any vestiges of rights stripped away. You are, for all intents and purposes, dead. Guards are well within their right to put down hostile prisoners, riots, or even those just difficult to deal with, and put them down hard. You might think that this would lead to the abuse of power, not that anyone would truly care in a place like this, but it seems Gehenna is enough of a threat on its own, as well as the fact that they have to operate in groups. The dangers of being assigned to it are enough to keep the guards themselves in check, as most just want to finish their shift and go back to their quarters. They'll take the hazard pay until they've accrued quite the nest egg, then run far, far away from such a place.    Gehenna weighs heavily on the soul.
