The Xethess Remnant

Xethess was more than a nation, it was one woman's dream of unity for an entire race and hope for the natural world. It was the first ever nation of Wood Elves. Its message of a united front against Human expansion even drew minorities from the empire: Halflings displaced by the economic changes wrought by the Empire, Gnomes who were tired of being second fiddle to the Dwarves, and Orsenmen who experienced prejudice and oppression. Everyone in the young nation Xethess was there because they or their parents or their grandparents chose to be.
As Xethess fell, the evacuees vowed to continue the fight. There was no written agreement, barely even any conversation among the refugees. Those who were too yound, old, or infirm to fight were moved out to Wood Elf settlements throughout the Green Horn. The rest were trained with the bow, taught to hide themselves and their materiel, taught to wield illusions and enchantments to confuse their enemies, taught to observe and report supply routes.
It started with a few disappeared supply convoys and then escalated to hit and run attacks on inbound reinforcements. In three months, Xethess was almost completely cut off from the Mountainhomes. The Xethess Remnant's guerilla campaign has completely crushed the Dwarves' dreams of mithril mines in the Hornridge Mountains and the Empire's wish for a central base from which to attack Thalassa and Fennein.
What's more, the fall of Xethess has shaken the Elven nations into action against the empire. Thalassa has begun amassing troops in the Backbone Mountains. Fennein has escalated naval interdictions in the Mor ocean and begun a series of attacks on New Southmark. Even the Dark Elves have begun raids into the Imperial Heartland and Kolthis has begun clandestine activities aimed at destabilizing the Empire and assisting the Remnant.
The devotion and fury of the Xethess Remnant threatens to bring the Elves and Humans into a war of the like unseen for thirteen hundred years.
