Traditions of Granmont
Legal System
Main article: Legal System Laws are enforce by City Watch. Most arrests will be done by marchausse or gendarmes. Trials are led by a church Abjucator who refers to legal statutes published by the guilds, but the Abjucator has ultimate authority on verdict and sentence.
Housing
Most people in Granmont rent rooms or parts of a building. Only the wealthy such as nobles and merchants typically own their own properties but some commoners have homes that have been in their families for generations, which they often lease as their primary source of income. Most people will have a personal relationship with both the landlord and fellow tenants. There are no zoning laws so family apartments may be right next to people running businesses out of their rooms. There are high-capacity apartment buildings such as Smoke City Tenament Projects in Skirts or the high-rises of Camino, but despite these buildings densities there are too few of them in the city to be where most people live.
Despite token gestures of charity from the Crown and Church there are many vulnerable unhoused individuals in Granmont. The entire district of Bluffs is effectively a tent city with few permanent structure and the Camino Sewage System is populated by Lycans and other mistreated peoples.
