Personal history

A Fish Out of Water

Born to a career military captain on the continent of Dianat, Lei Wan grew up under the pressure of not just her father but also the society that valued practicality survival over academic theory and philosophy. After finally realizing that she was not fitting in, Lei Wan's father had her sent to the Cruxn'Fold academy to study magic.

True Calling

At the academy she prolonged declaring a designated area of study for as long as possible hoping to prolong her time at the academy. She enrolled in lectures like exotic languages, cloud giant migrations, planar patterns, and divination theory. During her studies she became proficient in many languages amassing knowledge over many topics. After 9 consecutive years of schooling she was granted the opportunity of a lifetime, one that would take her far from her home and to the island of Granduul where she had been offered the role of a clerk at the Archive of Covet.   Even though her life of academia was far from what her parents had hoped for her, they watched her grow and noticed her propensity for learning and problem solving. When the time came for her to accept her offer they sent her off with their blessing.

God Theory

Lei Was was instantly charmed by the energy of Varenguul, and impressed with the volume of information offered up at the Archive. She did her best not to let it distract her from her duties as a clerk, organizing and re-organizing tomes, scrolls, and artifacts. Before long even this lost its luster and she became bored until a unique scroll made its way across her desk. After giving it some of her attention she found rumors from some of the other staff. They claimed it was some contrived manifesto created by a fanatic praising Ioun. While it had the appearance of a coded cipher more senior clerks told her of their attempts to solve it. They told her how it would change after each review, an unsolvable puzzle, created with the purpose to drive men mad. Lei Wan continued to analyze it, and while this may not be something meant to be solved she found an uncanny solace in the mental exercises it provided for her. It motivated her, showing her that there would always be more to learn, and it could be possible that this contributed to her fantastic mental strength.

Overdue

Lei Wan carried on her role as a clerk for nearly 2 years totally content with her role not giving a thought to progressing to a new role. As luck would have it, the archive curators were starting to receive more and more submissions from a guild known as The Trace, and they didn't have the man power to process their work. Lei Wan was quickly installed as the designated curator for The Trace and acclimated to the new role with much enthusiasm for the next 4 years.
