Appalachian Plateau

Geography

The Appalachian Plateau in the southwest is one of the north-eastern foothills of the Appalachians, reaching a height of up to 1,280 meters. Among them is the well-known Mount Gotham, with a height of 1,538 meters.

Natural Resources

The subsurface of the Appalachian Plateau is formed by sedimentary rock, especially sandstone, shale and limestone, as well as extensive salt deposits. Fertile alluvial soils have developed in the valleys.
