High Virtus
The High Virtus is among one of the most important positions in the world. No matter who claims the Anarian lands, the Anarian people will always flock to the High Virtus. They are the headed of the Anarian Varian centralized church and the Anarian state. They lead their people by example and exercise a huge amount of Cultural, political, and religious, control over the Anarian People.
A personality Cult is often formed around the High Virtus as they are inherently seen as a perfect human form resembling Varia her self. This means that fashion, economic, and political trends are all dictated by the High Virtus image. This also makes them one of the most powerful people on the planet as their is rooted in every Anarian and follower of Varia.
Appointment
When appointed, the High Virtus is given a commencement ceremony where they are presented by the entire High Priest consul to the Church of Anaria found in the Anarian Capital of Babiliy. During the ceremony the High Virtus is dressed in heavy robes and given a crown like head pieces and is then blessed by the whole church.
Duties
The High Virtus is given the duties of providing the face of the centralized Varian church. They are expected to calm the people and react as the leader of the Anarian theocracy.
Responsibilities
The High Virtus has all the expected responsibility's of a head of state as they rule as the grand leader of Anaria and all of its minor states. Day to day, the High Virtus is expected to oversee and give insights on any military and diplomatic matters along with setting long term plans for both Anarian and the centralized church. Lastly the High Virtus also have full reign over Babiliy despite it being run by its own church appointed Governor-priest.
Benefits
The High Virtus is given the Palace of Varia as a living space along with its accompanying estate just outside of Babiliy. they also gain access to the Church private treasury that is kept to guaranty the economic safety of the High priests. Obviously being the reigning leader of the Anarian theocracy also comes with power politicly and diplomaticly.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
The High Virtus may only be removed early with a unanimous vote by all high priests no matter how many there are at the time. Shortly after the vote for dismissal, a replacement is appointed by the high priests. The current High Virtus is then informed of the dismissal and escorted from Anarian state buildings while being stripped of the state belongings, over the nest week all of their ties to the Anarian state is removed and they are often banned from the church after words. This rarely happens without some sort of infighting between the people and the clergy.
Cultural Significance
The High Virtus is not only seen as the head of state and church leader but is viewed as the best among the Anarian peoples. All Anarians strive to reach the virtue of the High Virtus as they are viewed as a living form of Varia her self. The High Virtus is also seen as the cultural leader, making them a hugely influential being religiously, politicly, and culturally. It is commonly understand by world leaders everywhere that no leader shall ever shape their people to the extent as the Anarian High Virtus simply due to their historically cultural position.
