Deus in Nobis

The Deus in Nobis was a massive statue constructed shortly after the death of the great sesserian emperor Talien Maxima. The statue depicts the famed emperor and is set on the water front of the imperial sesserian capital of ____(and not the Historical capital of ___) and has become the primary image of teh city, and the first sesserian empire. The Deus in Nobis sits as a towering reminder of the sesserian golden age and the constructive power of teh sesserian Empire as no other nation on teh planet could build such a monument completely surrounded by water.   The Deus in Nobis has become a sign of sesserian pride, empire, and conservatism. Patriots of teh Free Sesserian Republic flock to coasts to stair upon thier long dead god king, and the revolutionaries of the new Second Sesserian Empire look upon it in distaste, and see it as a reminder of thier stubborn past that dragged them into endless civil war. The statue has become a hot point of Sesserian identity and has lead to a rift in the first nationalized culture. The image of the Deus in Nobis has become a nationalism symbol for the free republic and is even used as a religious site for the Church of the Crimson Crown

History

In coordination with Sesserian law, upon Talien Maxima's death he was given a burial in teh hall of kings in the historical capital, but due to the relocation of the imperial capital, many wished for a monument within the new capital for the god emperor, An so the construction of the Deus in Nobis began. The Name had a very literal meaning "God among us", it was made as a way to show that Maxima shall always be watching over the Sesserian people. The monument saw work form every mason in the empire as national pride drove teh project forward. Upon its construction, Maxima's successor proclaimed "No great work shall ever bring so many together, and no great empire shall outshine the Sesserians".
