Mechanics & Inner Workings
Index contains an echo of every tome within the library, functioning as a living table of contents. It cannot reveal entire texts but can provide summaries or directions to their physical location. When asked for knowledge, Index manifests an ethereal projection in the form of Nyxiren that guides seekers to specific tomes and requests that they have. It retrieves its searches by a combination of arcane runes that are layered with crystalline circuits powered by enchanted energy cores that enable advanced knowledge indexing and predictive guidance. Index also doubles as a security system to enforce the library's rules and disables or banishes anyone who attempts to steal, destroy, or misuse knowledge. Bhita Goddess of Art, Commerce, and the Modern World's technological influence allows Index to detect unauthorized access and allows it to deploy mechanical constructs or disabling intruders with magical wards.
History
Index is a hybrid creation: a fusion of Hydall's arcane mastery and Bhita's technological ingenuity. Almost as some form of punishment and reminder of the dangerous nature of the arcane, Index serves as both a reflection and reimagining of Nyxiren’s form from just before Hydall destroyed him. Hydall God of the Arcane provided the arcane essence and crafted an echo of Nyxiren’s form as a lich while @bhithad her best and brightest followers develop a technological framework out of Aetherium to stabilize the construct. The result was a flawless guide to the infinite knowledge of Hydall's library bound by both arcane runes and technomagical circuitry that provided a both a view of the library at all times, but also a way to channel summaries and locate any item or tome that was requested.
Significance
The appearance of Index is of Nyxiren of whom Hydall God of the Arcane had to destroy. It is both a protector and a tool and is a constant reminder of how magic can twist the hearts of those to misue it and ensures that only the most worthy can have access to the most dangerous and powerful tomes and items.
