Session 5: Hitting a Wall
General Summary
Last we left off, the party gathered themselves from the events from the day before. The city was quiet with most of its inhabitants still clearing away rubble. Ray prepared breakfast for the group and noticed that his sister Liora Cyst had left. The party slowly made their way to the grand forge which was almost mostly empty except for a group of interesting looking dwarves that had come over from a city called Windbury - The Technical City. Ray, with the help of one of the dwarves was able to repower his armor with the Aetherium that they had collected from the caverns and his sister showed up from one of the workshops there, gifting him the iStone v1. The group procured a horse and carriage and made their way to the city of Trealing.
As they arrived and entered the grand hospital there, Ray found his family in the waiting room and found out that apparently Narci had attempted to come in and made a scene and left before he was kicked out, stating that he'd find another way. A little while later, one of the chiefs of medicine's there Thalvek Draewyn approached the family, discussing options and test results with the family. After discussing with them he also noticed Swordbearer Annghorhast and had a slightly interesting conversation with him as well. Picking apart pieces from their conversation, he decided to run a few additional tests and was able to figure out the curse. Pulling Ray and his mother and father into a room to discuss the treatment of removing her arm. The good doctor discerned that it seemed the child had been cursed by something dark. Ray's mother enraged cast hold person on him and ran out the room, losing all sense of herself in her grief and rage, hurling explicative words at the two of the dark faith and even punched Annghorhast in the knee. Ray was able to break free and grab his mother, pulling her away and moved her off to his father who began consoling her. Ray begged Doc and the Sword for an explanation and so they told him that the dark goddess had marked the child as punishment for their hubris in causing the damage that they did. His parents accepted the treatment, and the group made their way to a tavern. Ghost and Rheese decided to go out and have some extracurricular activities in the slums, finding a bar with a fighting pit to take out frustrations. Ray was contacted by Narci who told him to meet someone at the small temple that was across from the hospital. Later that night, Ray passed Ghost who looked a little worse for wear and entered the temple where he met a beautiful woman who appeared to be in her twenties. She seemed slightly paranoid and hurried him along to his sister's room where she put his mother to sleep magically and told Ray that he must keep his sister quiet. Pulling off her hood, the air began to grow thick and heavy with arcane influence and both her eyes and hair shimmered in a golden aura. Mira Cyst's arm was taken apart in mid-air, gears of arcane or divine energy swirled around as she extracted dark threads from the child's arm. Once it was over, she fell asleep and the woman that had helped him made a speedy exit. Ray left a note for his mother and went back to the tavern. The next morning was met with shock and awe as the immaculate recovery of his sister from both his family and the hospital staff in what could only be described as a "miracle of Bhita". The group exited the city soon after and made their way towards the wall city of Nadena.
Approaching the city towards the end of the day, the group stopped and talked to a few vendors just before the wall before realizing that they could go into a small section just for trading and an overnight stay. Some of the party overheard the guards talking about how boring it is just going over to the vendors to gather supplies and who was going to cut who to put on the show of the great "raid" that they were about to go on. The group was escorted through to the tavern, where the halfling bar keep, a red dragonborn guard, and a human guard stayed. To the surprise of the blade, there was another blade here that was not being held by the blade that the blade was entrusted with. (say that five times fast). There was also a little bird on the girl's shoulder that attempted to get the attention of the group, but ended up having to fly out and come back in as none other than Truthseer Nurn (Alaric Varro). They had some discussion regarding the blade that had called out to the child who he had been training for the past few years in the history and art of the blade. He also told them that the original blade nurn helped build the wall and eventually wanted to open it up for everyone but was tried for treason and put to death. Nurn shielded Alaric from judgement, stating that he acted alone and eventually seemed to convince the group to let the girl with the origin blade be for now. Going upstairs into their rooms, Ray sent out his familiar to scout the area where it eventually ran across a giant creature with a bell atop his head. The group jumped at the chance, believing that this was the bell that they needed from this city. So, Annghorhast translated the celestial language back and forth to the familiar to relay to the creature...but when something he said had his name in it, the creature screamed out in celestial...the only word that everyone understood was ANNGHORHAST!! The group made their way downstairs and outside of the tavern where the bell creature charged towards the group, targeting only one old elf. The two fought and the mighty creature ended up cutting off the hand that wielded the blade. Still, the group fought and Annghorhast was able to free this creature who was the original weilder of the blade Nurn. Doc, by divine luck, was able to reattach the arm of the old man and the group tore the bell off of the monster and fled into the night. After a few hours of travel, they set up camp where during Doc's watch Alaric hopped out and spoke to him. Doc told him that they were after a magical bell and that he would try to keep the courts out of Nadena for information on Annghorhast. Alaric complied and told him what he'd been told from his former blade and left. The group decided that it would be in their best interest to go to the courts deep within the Nocturnis Territory and so, they made their way back to Ray's hometown of Prul where they utilized one of the two teleportation circles that had been set up for long distance trade.
The group teleported to the elven trading city of Filal Nalore, at the forefront of the territory and stepped out next to the church of darkness where they were greeted by a pale elven woman who explained that all tenants of the faith were allowed here, not just the moon. She also told Annghorhast that she was waiting on him and it had been a while. So, while doc began trying to explain to the party what it's like living and functioning in a lawful evil city, the old man walked slowly through the temple until he stepped out into the back looking over hundreds of tombstones and where a glimmer of light, as if shown down by fate seemed to shine over a single one.
