Laranhona

Laranhona is a vibrant coastal town located within the Nocturnis territory, serving as the primary hub for sea trade in the region. This unique settlement is shared by wood elves and sea elves, with the former residing within the forested interior and the latter inhabiting the coast and its underwater environs. The town is vital for importing goods and distributing them throughout the elven territories, despite strained relationships between the wood, sea, and moon elves, who harbor resentment toward Laranhona for rejecting the dark faith in favor of their dual devotion to Ilmos the Wildkeeper and Ilmos the Tidebearer.

Demographics

Laranhona is predominantly populated by wood elves (60%) and sea elves (35%), with a small population of traders and merchants of other races (5%) residing temporarily.

Government

Laranhona operates under a dual-leadership system. A wood elf elder, Falyndra Arastis, governs the forested interior and agricultural aspects, while a sea elf priestess, Nysean Velathis, oversees maritime activities and underwater temples. They typically keep to their own internal sections of the city with Falyndra managing transportation of goods while Nysean oversees the overall trade routes and keeps the docks and oceans clear.

Industry & Trade

Laranhona thrives on the import of goods from the oceanic trade routes across Nauquan. In return, it exports timber, medicinal herbs, and artisan crafts made from Tideglass Coral and Glidekelp . The relationship with Llanfyl ensures these goods are distributed throughout the region. Fishing and pearl diving also contribute to the economy.

Infrastructure

The town is divided into elevated wooden platforms and bridges that intertwine with ancient trees for the wood elf quarters, while the coastal region features coral-built structures and underwater sanctuaries for the sea elves. Ports and docks are expansive, facilitating trade with large vessels and smaller elven crafts alike. Pathways connect Laranhona to Llanfyl, the critical distribution hub for Nocturnis and other territories.

History

Founded milenia ago by wood elves seeking coastal access, the town’s expansion into the sea came after alliances were forged with the sea elves. Over time, tensions with the moon elves of Llanfyl arose, though necessity has kept trade relations intact. Laranhona’s underwater temples were constructed during a golden era of unity, symbolizing cooperation between land and sea.
