Personal history

Joyce Brimdor was born in Crosela - The Winter Continent. Her father was a guard in the city of Port Lisea where she was able to attend school and learn alchemy and a few other languages during her time there. When she was old enough, she decided that she wanted to become an adventurer, so she left and headed for The Continent of Grenias with a few of her friends that she had made along the way. She traveled the continent with her group called The Gilded Striders—a mid-tier group of treasure hunters and monster slayers known for their bold but often reckless endeavors. They were not a legendary group, but they had built a solid reputation for tackling dangerous jobs, particularly in swamps, ruins, and monster dens where their diverse skills shone. Joyce was always gathering materials as well, making potions to help out the group.

One of their contracts led them deep into troll-infested marshlands, where they were tasked with clearing out a particularly ferocious troll den. What was meant to be a standard hunt turned into a nightmare. The trolls were far more intelligent and coordinated than expected, setting traps and ambushes that picked off Joyce’s companions one by one. She managed to wound the troll matriarch, a towering, grotesque beast with unnatural regeneration, but before she could land the killing blow, the creature tore through her group and nearly killed her. She barely escaped, bloodied and broken, forced to leave the bodies of her fallen comrades behind. The trolls desecrated her party’s remains, a gruesome act that haunted her dreams for years. Even after escaping, she carried the deep scars—both physical and emotional—of the encounter. She realized that glory wasn’t worth the suffering, and unlike battle-hardened warriors, she lacked the stomach to keep fighting. Instead, she turned to what had always brought her comfort—alchemy, using her knowledge to help others in a way that didn’t require endless bloodshed.

After abandoning adventuring, Joyce spent years studying alchemy in Goldier, perfecting her craft. She started with basic healing potions, but her natural creativity and love for experimentation led her to wild and extravagant concoctions. Her reputation grew through word of mouth, with locals and adventurers alike praising her “potion for anything.” Though she still carries emotional scars from the troll incident, she channeled her hatred into something productive—creating specialized anti-troll toxins, making her one of the most sought-after alchemists for troll-related problems.
