Aleorman had an interesting proposal – He said that supplies of Glow have dried up, and it would be worth my while if I could duplicate the recipe. He’s given me a small supply to analyze, with ridiculous promises of gold if I am successful.
The Glow appears to be closely related to a false-life potion, but the feeling of vigor is also pleasurable and impressively addictive. I have not been able to isolate the compound adulterating it, and Aleorman cannot provide me any details as to what it might be. He’s hiding something, but I can’t tell what his game is.
I have a theory on how to make more, but they may not like it.
As predicted, residual Glow can be extracted from the brains of heavily addicted subjects, but the concentration is too weak to be of use to Aleorman. I must find a way to concentrate it. Frightening and torturing the subjects before extraction appears to release more residual Glow . The concentration is still not sufficient, though we have found that it alleviates withdrawal symptoms in addicts. I’m begging to think the only way to collect that reward will be to recreate the recipe. There are only so many subjects we can extract from.
Today I learned that the drow have their own name for Glow – something that sounds like “sweet-tits-ya”. The boys captured one snooping around, and I interrogated him to see what he knew. He carried the mark of the The Unseen , but all he could tell us was that it’s made by“The Grey Ghost”. Nobody knows who that is – I’ll start asking around.
We have tried many and varied distillation processes, but we cannot get it strong enough for Aleorman's needs, and he has run out of patience. He will not pay us, but we have found a market uptown as a treatment for Glow withdrawl. I've named it "Nightlight,” and have a few nobles willing to pay 250gp per dose. These Bloodwater filth are finally worth something.
