Chapter 2 - Verse 1: Time to play in the sandbox! Report
General Summary
The attack on the Swordlord's manor has finished and the remaining manor staff and guards begun to clean and take care of the dead. The party also helped with giving the victims proper rests and tending to those who were wounded with those who can work with medicine skills. The night was long and hard for everyone, including the valiant heroes.
That morning, the Lady Jamandi gathered the remaining individuals and adventuring parties who survived and continued on her mission to assign charters to each of the groups and continue with the plan despite its sabotage attempts. During the meeting, Tartucio heckled the party and tried to explain to Lady Jamandi that it was his wisdom and leadership that gave the heroes their upper hand. The party did not stand for it and called him out on it, especially Ejil Everwinter and Shia'has. Tartucio stormed out of the room in anger and embarrassment.
The party received their charter which read:
Be it known that the bearer of this charter has been charged by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and authority vested within them by the office of the Lord-Mayor of Restov, the right of exploration and travel within the wilderness regions known as Restov’s Hinterlands and the Greenbelt. Exploration should be limited to an area west and south of Oleg’s Trading Post, no further than the banks of the Shrike and Skunk Rivers. The carrier of this charter should strive against banditry and other unlawful behavior to be encountered. The punishment for unrepentant banditry remains, as always, execution by sword or rope. So witnessed on this 24th day of Calistril, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov.
The party set for the next day after last minute preparations and headed out into the Stolen Lands and made way to Oleg's. Along the way, the party encountered some wildlife Elks. Thinking it would be good to have for some provisions, the lot took aim and tried to hunt these beasts but were unsuccessful in their opening attacks, leading to a wild encounter in which the Elks greatly damaged the party with their strong antlers and powerful hooves. The group did successfuly slay the beasts and harvest the necessary meats but not without some wounds that needed to be fixed. The group continued moreso and made their first camp for the night. During one of the watches, another pair of Elks sought them out as revenge for the murder of their mates and a full on surprise attack took place - injuring the party even more and putting Ejil on the brink of death when he was fatally stabbed by a pointed antler. The party once again defeated these beasts but their luck seems to be not on their side in the beginning hours of their mission into the Stolen Lands.
