Most Tritons live in the Oceans of the Material Plane. Those that live on land usually live in the Islands of Julra and on the shores of Godsen.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
While Tritons are unable to see in darkness like other species, they are able to see in total darkness as if it's bright light in deep water. They are also able to cast spells based around water and fog.
Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
Tritons utilize Giant Seahorses as a mount, similar to how horses are treated in Human society. Sea Lions and Hippocampi often work with Tritons to destroy their enemies, in return for protection of their young.

Naming Traditions
Most of the triton names have 2 or 3 syllables. Typically, the names of the males end with a vowel and the letter ‘s’. on the other hand, the female names end with a letter ‘n’. Their home protectorates are used as a surname with the name that is formed by adding a vowel followed by a “th” to the end of the protectorate’s name.

Triton society usually have Male soldiers and Male Leaders, while Female Tritons are used for common work, as well as a specific chapter of most Triton militaries called the "Kelimap," a military force derived of entirely female paladins who are often used for moral support and as a form of rear-guard.

Tritons are able to smith various weapons and armor. They are also able to craft crossbows that work underwater and harpoon guns.
Most Triton civilizations have buildings made of stone, glass, and a specially made coral-kelp material that substitutes steel.

Tritons speak Common and Aquan. Aquan is a special language, as those who can speak it can speak underwater.
Common Etiquette Rules
Triton meetings where intended entirely for underwater. They have the water around each other swirl lightly, when they come in to hold both each other's hands. After an exchange of names, the swirl of water will end.
Triton Goodbyes are done by using the water control ability to push each other away.
Because of these forms of Etiquette, Tritons are often confused on land, since they are completely unable to do these greetings. Because of this, they often just copy the first greeting style they see.
Common Dress Code
Tritons usually wear shirts and kilts. In most triton culture, they do not wear shoes. They often do not need to protect their feet, as they often swim around, likewise shoes most likely would make it harder to swim, since their feet are already webbed.

Because of their pride, forgetting about Triton history is seen as incredibly dishonourable.
History
Tritons where created in -9000 CR, created in the elemental plane of water by the sea god Serrohan. They and Merfolk were created to protect the plane from evil water elementals, as well as other monsters of other planes. One of the main threats they had fought was Sekolah, the shark god, who constantly attacked civilizations for food. They otherwise lived in peaceful times, until -3400 Cr, when the Sahuagin began appearing. Constant war and fighting would be set for the tritons for centuries, following the Sahuagin and Sekolah into the material plane, believing that whatever Sekolah was planning would cause the end of the plane of water.
Tritons and Sea Elves would enter a war against the Sahuagin on the material plane for 800 years, ending with the Sahuagin's defeat. The war brought about many Triton cities, at first being treated as fortresses to keep Sahuagin from entering the area. Likewise, the war introduced the Tritons to the gods of the realm, particularly sea gods and storm gods, which gained many new worshippers from the Tritons. The war ended when Sekolah was forced to flee into the Abyss, specifically layer 434 (The flooded chasm). With the Sahuagin defeated, and the ocean calm, their world would be peaceful for quite some time.
Until 1040wr, when a kraken priest named Hoen Balkavosh, was creating a ritual to allow Krakens to move on land. He would use his Kraken masters to destroy Triton cities and collect the required materials to complete the ritual. The Tritons did not know of land yet, and they believed that the ritual would make Krakens gods. It took until 1190wr, when the Tritons launched an offensive against Hoen Balkavosh's tower of ice. Many died, but eventually they would kill Hoen. This was the first instance of the Tritons meeting a Human, and the first time they had left the water.
In 1200wr, 3 groups of 30 Tritons would adventure onto land. One group landed on Godsen, one group Landed on Garathar, and one landed on Coudria, in the Islands of Julra. The ones who landed in Coudria did not stay for very long, leaving only a year after coming, as the desert region was uncomfortable for the Tritons, though they had set up decent relations with the Khenra. The Group that went to Garathar where welcomed with open arms by the Tortles. Most would search around, note items such as trees, fruits, grass, the Tortles, the wildlife, and even the air. They would leave in 1202wr, however, some stayed behind, continuing to study the Tortles, watching their daily lives, and asking questions to clear confusion.
The Tritons who went to Godsen where met by a fishing Village owned by a group of Humans. The Tritons where met with suspicion, as this Village was attacked by a Sahuagin scouting party a few years before, and suddenly another race of fish-people came from the ocean. The Tritons simply studied the Humans' daily life, from their fishing to their crafting. They would eventually be content with their information, and would begin moving deeper into the Continent. They would find a City, which is where they found most of the Land-world species. They noted how different the Humans acted here than the ones they met in the Village. They would study the species in the Town. While they managed to learn about the Dwarves, the Elves, the Halflings, the Gnomes, the Dragonborn, and the Goliaths, only the Halflings let them learn about them, as the other members of the races tended to avoid the Tritons, since they believed they where trying to find weaknesses for nefarious purposes.
They believed that they had enough information of this world for now, and began their trek back to the Ocean. While going home, they encountered a roving warband of Orcs. The Orcs would challenge the Tritons to a fight. When the Tritons denied the request, the Orcs immediately went on the offensive, and began fighting the scouting party. It took 10 days for the Tritons to escape the Orcs, which happened only because a Warband of Hobgoblins met and fought the Orcs. The scouting party would make it back to the ocean, with 10 men less than before, in 1203wr.
All notes would be put together, and in 1210wr, a counsel of all Triton cities would convene, and determined that those on land must be protected from both those under the sea, and themselves, noted by the Godsen scouting group and their encounter with the Orcs. After many meetings, the Tritons would send 1,000 troops to Godsen, with orders of to populate and to protect.
In 1367wr, the Water Archelemental Olhydra and her cult of the Crushing Wave was planning to flood the world in a ocean permanently suffering from strong storms and waves. She would bring about this plan by opening a massive 2-way portal to the elemental plane of water, which would allow water from the plane of endless water to flow into the material plane and drown everyone in an endless sea of horrid waters. Tritons, with the help of Sea Elves, would eventually stop Olhydra and her Cult in 1422wr.
In 1844wr, a Kuo-Toa tribe had found its way into the deep ocean. They worshipped the god of Killing Non-believers, Lnldkghoa. Lnldkghoa had realized something- that the Kuo-Toa could turn each other into god, and rule the world. The Tritons would learn of this because of a single Triton who escaped from the Kuo-Toa told them. They immediately began sending armies to find the Tribe, but coulden't, as the Kuo-Toa where constantly on the move, swimming through the entire ocean. Every so often, they would stop on an island or continent, to sacrifice heretics to their god. They used these instances to follow them, until 1845wr, when a Triton scouting party found them. It only took a few days, but the Tribe would be wiped out, and Lnldkghoa was killed.

Tritons are often comparable to Gith. THey tend to be fairly skinny, but are usually about as tall as a human. As some Sahuagin are born looking like sea elves, Tritons are sometimes born being as big and as strong as a Sahuagin.
