Draconic. Some Lizardfolks in tribes learn Common for trade purposes with nearby human, elf, dwarf, or halfling settlements.

Common Etiquette Rules

Common Dress Code

Lizardfolk don't tend to wear clothes. Most of their "clothing" is ropes and leathers, primarily for carrying items.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

When a member of the tribe passed away, they were eaten by the others in a ceremonial wake. In this way, they became part of the tribe again, not just figuratively but literally. Their bones are then used for tents and houses, as well as weapons.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

The Name "Lizardfolk" came from humans, who commented on their combination Lizard and man looks. Lizardfolk have not given themselves a unifying species name, finding such concept as useless.   Whenever Lizardfolk capture a being much larger than them, they perform a ritualistic song and dance, which is believed to be a way to feed their Gods. They will begin eating the creature.

Common Taboos

Lizardfolk fear innovation. They see the humanoids of the world use technology, and see them as weak. All tribes believe that one of the many reasons as to why these species are weak is their over reliance on technology that makes life easier.

History

Lizardfolk are the byproduct of Dragonborn who worshipped S'em'uan'ya, a god of survival, in secret. Most of these dragonborn where servants to the Black dragons of the marshes. They would disappear every so often, all congregating in order to shed their draconic visage. After 60 years, the dragonborn found a way to lose their dragon visage, and replace it with one of lizards. This ritual, similar to the one to create Yuan-ti, caused them to lose most of their emotions, replacing them with incredible pragmatism. These being where lizardfolk, and they would flee their slavers, much to the dismay of those slaves. When the Lizardfolk where rebelling against the dragons, some would turn to dark powers to fight their power. Many would side with the Demonlord Sess'innek, gaining a unique martial prowess, as well as a trident made from the bones of those felled by Sess'innek.   Some of these Lizardfolk where instructed, by their god, to go to another world with their tribesmen, and managed to get off the continent, utilizing a combination of wits, cunning, and days of swimming. They eventually made it to the shores of Godsen. There, the Lizardfolk would put themselves in the swamps, jungles, and dense forests, and would live off the land. Many species found on Godsen would treat the lizardfolk with heavy caution, and would keep them at a distance. This form of peace would soon end, however, when in 243wr, the Lizard Kings would all suddenly become greedy and evil, demanding their people to go out and kill, loot, and eat the races of the world. A Bloody war broke out, and only ended when the Lizard Kings where killed. The surviving Lizardfolk did not hold ill will to their enemies, and when the last Lizard King fell, they went back to their lives of mundanity, though many species treated them as dangerous monsters. The Lizard Kings, however, are still capable of appearing among the Lizardfolk tribes as a rare Genetic mutation.   In 454wr, several Lizardfolk tribes found in Ovak and Godsen would be told by S'em'uan'ya to move to both the desert continents of the Wild Lands and the Islands of Julra to spread. The Lizardfolk would build rafts to travel to their destination. During the Calamity event, Lizardfolk would go into a panic, as their tribes would be destroyed and their people would die on mass. In order to save their people, Lizardfolk tribe leaders would do everything in their power to protect the tribe, to the point of using technology from other races for safety, as slaadi could slaughter entire tribes of them. This event has been dubbed by lizardfolk to be the "Fossk Di Wer Seltur Resksik," or "Era of Weakness." Most would try to hide this time from people, and bringing it up in the presence of a Lizardfolk will cause discomfort, anger, and embarrassment among them. This event also created the Slaadizra, a horribly mutated Lizardfolk who ate of the flesh of a Slaad. Once the event had ended, lizardfolk life stayed the same as it ever was.   In 2180wr, the first lizardfolk tribe moved into Willow, called the "Wer Ternesj Tilsini," which translates to "The City Lizards." These Lizardfolk would gain gray and brown scales, to match the color of the Stone streets. They would hunt animals around and outside the city, and sell their meats and their Pelts to the people, and would, for more gold, make clothing pieces for people, out of the pelts of the animals they hunt.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Most Lizardfolk are neutral to all races, except monstrous ones. Dragonborn are "liked" by the Lizardfolk, due to their lineage ties. Kobolds are disliked due to their weakness, and the fact that they look like Lizardfolk.   Even though they are Neutral to most races, they still see other creatures as food. They don't typically kill for sport, and will kill humanoids for sustenance. Because of this, Lizardfolk are usually seen as animals in most cultures, and in some, are seen as evil Monsters.   Lizardfolk in the Deserts of Ovak and the Islands of Julra know the Thri-Kreen, and see them as Rivals.

Lizardfolk Adventurers   Lizardfolk adventurers usually also have the pragmatic mind, and only do what they do for survival. Because of this, the main reason most Lizardfolk become adventurers because their original way to survival has been compromised, and need to travel around to survive. This is done when the tribe is destroyed, the tribe's in danger, or the Lizardfolk was forced out of the tribe.
