Uchino Kotaro is on the surface a simple business man, the owner of the Kuki Ryokan. The Kotaro family have own the Ryokan for generations, and Uchino is just the latest family head who controls the place. It is well known and respected Inn within Sunsi, many well off traders from all over Godai will stay in the Inn when in Sunsi on business or pleasure.
The Kotaro family have a darker side than that of the Ryokan, as part of the Ka'lessi guild, and Uchino isn't just a member but is the leader of the guild, He is the head of the thieves of Ka'lessi, and the Kuki Ryokan is also they headquarters because of this. No Ka'lessi business can take place on the grounds of the inn, and that may be why it is popular with the guests that stay within in, if they know that secret.

Early Life

Kotaro family like all Ka'lessi families, children joined the ka'lessi schools as Prospect, learning the skills to blend into society, as succesfully members of that society. Uchino shown promise from a young age in the academics learnings and passed all the tests, and moved onto Trainee, and learnt from members within the guild, and shown skill in all forms of the arts of theft, and so progressed to full membership of the Ka'lessi.

Member of Ka'lessi

He spent his 20's and 30's as both a member of the Ka'lessi and Heir Apparant to the family business of the Ryokan. He shown skill in both sides of his life, and married his wife who wasn't from a Ka'lessi family, so was kept in the dark to that side of this life for many years, but she was told in the end. His children are now Prespects and Trainees within the Ka'lessi and all of them are being taught business of running the Ryokan.

Leader of Ka'lessi

When the last leader of the Ka'lessi retired for the remaining twilight years of his life, he recommended Uchino as his replacement, for his business acumen in running the Ryokan, would put him in good stead in business dealings of the Guild. The other members of the council of Ka'lessi agreed to this recommendation and Uchino was raised to the seat of leadership, which is where he remains now.
