Day of Darkness

The Day of Darkness is festival within Aukeryn Dynasty dedicated to Achazar, The Fire Titan. To pray for the light to come back and for the warmth of the Fire to sustained life for the coming weeks and months. It is a day of feasting on the stores that will not survive the rest of the winter. This is the last meal of fresh fruits and vegetables, along with Meats and Fish. Going forward after this day the foods tend to be dried and plain food so this is a treat for all.

The Celebration

Each Settlement comes together and brings all food stuff that will not survive the winter to cook and feast on for one last time for the year, within communal firepits in the centre of each settlement, The cooking is part of the festival, to remind the members of the settlement that community and the reminder of the times of need and community kept each person alive and fed.   Those with skills to perform and enterain, give performances of music, of juggling or story telling or whatever else, People spend the day and night remembering the Fire and praising the Achazar. Bonfires lit though out the settlement and surrounding lands and food is shared by all nevermind their station within the town or if their out of town travellers. The Fires are important part of the festival, and many will show their skills with Fire Walking, Coal Dancing or juggling with flaming branches.   This is a unique festival of the Aukeryn Dynasty is the civilisation to the furthest south, so the long nights are not seen by other kingdoms on different continent, but many people come from other cities and kingdoms to experience the festival and the communal spirit.
