Baldwyn Truethorn, Cassowary, Chess, Lynxford, and Ser Kerridin travelled out from Sigur towards Oryova, stopping at the ruined Sanguine Lodge on the way where they learned that the Red Drapes — on the behest of the Shadeless Lord — brought They-Who-Bring-Dusk to Zhilisky, indicating some nefarious connection. Once in Oryova, the Scofflaws assaulted the Office of the Vanatori, the HQ of the Duke's secret police, the Vanatori. Within, they slew several lieutenants of the organisation, injured their leader — Lady Flavia Vântu — and stole copious amounts of documents from her office before setting her journals on fire. They learned from these journals that Luwiġi Luchero, "Lox" Stonefork, and the missing Debt Collector leader Raven are all imprisoned beneath the fortress.
