Sun & Moon Physical / Metaphysical Law in Glüm | World Anvil

Sun & Moon

The Sun & Moon are two great orbs that cycle through the heavens, far above Glüm, chasing each other from east to west. They are believed to be the eyes of the twin Gods They Who Call the Dawn as they maintain the natural functions of reality within Harmony.   Both the Sun & Moon feature heavily in the folklore and artwork of the cultures of Glüm, as their governing Gods are the most commonly witnessed by mortals. For this reason, both have many local names — such as the Dawning Twin for the Sun — leading them to be known colloqually as the Most-Named.

Localization

It is of note that the Sun & Moon are only visible within Harmony, and do not exist in the parallel realms of Refrain nor Sustain. Despite this, these realms still have — in some form or another — natural ambient light during the "day" (though in both cases time exists much more strangely), leading scholars to determine that the Sun & Moon do not themselves create light, but rather exist within it.   The Sun & Moon also do not exist within the other planes of Creation, though gateways to both can be found in Symphony.
