Duke

A Duke, according to the Vekhen Empire, is a semi-autonymous hereditary regional governor who does not share lineage with the Emperor (which would instead make them a Prince). The region over which a Duke rules is called a Duchy. In Gol-Kasha, when one mentions the "duchy," they are invariably referring to the Duchy of Gol-Kasha, and when one mentioned the "duke," they are referring to the ruler of such (the current one being the Shadeless Lord).
A Duke is sometimes referred to as a "Satrap," in the event the Duchy they rule over is fully incorporated into the Empire, instead of being semi-autonymous. Alternately, a Duke may become an Arch-Duke if given legal recognition as being fully autonymous.
