Rootblight
Rootblight is a condition primarily feared by Florins and assorted spirits throughout Girasol. It is commonly referred to as simply "Blight" and sometimes mistakenly referred to as being "root-bound" although this is an entirely separate and far less dangerous condition with an unfortunately similar name. Rootblight is an extremely recent phenomenon, coinciding with the rise of the Microsia Empire in the east.
Symptoms
Florins that have succumbed to rootblight exhibit irrational behavior and violent mood swings. They are prone to lashing out at mortals and other Florins regardless of any previous relationship or loyalty. The domains they lord over become more of a curse than a blessing and their respective powers begin to have extreme negative effects. As the rootblight worsens, they slowly lose sentience and descend into a rabid form of divinity more akin to a dangerous potential than a refined poise. They also become highly impressionable and easy to control by those who know their true names and desires. Origins There are few theories as to the origins of the Rootblight, as it is a virtually unknown condition. Only a few Florins and spirits are known to have been afflicted by it, and of those even fewer have come into direct contact with mortals since being Blighted. Most Florins who follow the Lady Rose believe that Microsia is behind the curse, but they have little concrete evidence and no knowledge of how Emperor Trástaleon is using it to his advantage. All they know is that Blight comes to an area in the form of strange mechanical beings filled with a thick, oily sludge, the divine patrons of that area begin to act erratically, and the frontline Agronomist Corps of Microsia follow soon after. The Lady Rose initially downplayed the severity of the Blight when the Atropina Belladon sought her help against Emperor Trástaleon. A recording of the so-called Rebuke of Atropina is kept in the Tagetan Order's seedbank.Blighted Florins
The most notable example to date of a rootblighted Florin is the Atropina Belladon, as evidenced by the recording found in The Corruption of the Atropina Belladon. The Atropina was last spotted in the foothills of the Spinneral Mountains, just north of Schnifflestein, where she attacked Dulliander Dusterbroke, Lav Tash , and Ramaria Asahinae.
