Schnifflestein

They say Rome wasn't built in a day. The trading town of Schnifflestein, however, was. Created through a spell gone full wocky-wobble, Schnifflestein popped into existence at the very instant that Dulliander Dusterbroke was teleported there from the Versidium School. Not much is known still about how exactly this happened, nor have many fully caught on yet to the fact that Schnifflestein was seemingly created from thin air just two months ago, but certainly Dulliander has tapped a power far greater than any the world yet knows. He created life.

Geography

Schnifflestein was located at the mouth of the Descerie River, which empties into the Incandescent Sea. To the west and northwest lie the outermost ridges of the Spinneral Mountains, while to the east lies open ocean all the way to the Midsea Colonies of Microsia. Sailing south from Schnifflestein, one would reach the edges of the Coranthian Archipelagate. It appears as though there was a settlement that existed prior to Schnifflestein's appearance, but not much is known about the place by contemporary cartographers and it is still unclear whether the settlement was above ground or already subterranean.

Demographics

Schnifflestein was home to roughly 1200 people of various type and background. There was a small town council and some social stratification, but the town was so small that real class distinctions had not fully developed. Many townsfolk worked the docks, offloading the small shipments that began to come up the coast from places in Coranthia. Others ran businesses, like food halls, bakeries, tailors, and the like, that supported the small town. The brave few ventured into the Spinneral Mountains looking for precious ores and minerals and for good logging to build a bustling export industry. Fewer still of those returned.   The Desolation of Schnifflestein killed hundreds of Schnifflites. About a hundred ragged survivors reached Coranthian shores over the next two months. Some babbled about hundreds more survivors fleeing into strange tunnels under the city and being helped by beings of light. Most said nothing at all. It is thought that at least a few survivors may have also escaped to the surrounding mountainous regions, but given that the miners tell stories of evil spirits and abominations of bone dwelling in the upper Spinnerals, it is safe to assume that any who did not reach Coranthia are surely dead.
