Having been hired to help transport and beer to Barrowmista for the Arrow Sunder festival, the adventurers met each other on their journey.
The group included:
- Bartuk Hammerstein - Dwarf cleric
- Grubbyfug Gristledibber - Malliwan Wood Elf ranger
- Kurdan Dax - Half-Orc barbarian
- Tiny Tim - Tiefling warlock
Led by Theo of the Stevadors, the party made good time towards Barrowmista. Camping for the night led to impromptu singing and storytelling. The merrymaking was interrupted when a horrible creature attacked the camp. A winged horse like creature walking on its hind legs. Theo identified it as the
The Barrowmista Devil --- a legendary creature that most consider just a myth. The power monster was able to knockout Bartuk, but with Theo's magical help... they drove off the harbinger of doom back into the foggy night.
Arriving at Barrowmista before dawn the next morning, they found the city decorated for the festivities. Theo paid the adventurers for their service, and arranged housing for them that night at the Rusty Dragon inn.
The festival started with speeches from the mayor and other notable members of the city. One speaker, Lonjiku Jin, wasn't able to make it due to illness.
The adventurers helped themselves to some of the free food offered by the local inns, the alcohol venders, and the local games. While Bartuk set up a shell game to scam the fair goers, the other adventurers tried games of strength, dexterity, and greased pig wrestling.
The adventurers even competed against each other in a wheelbarrow race. Kurdan pushed a wagon with Grubbyfug while a slightly inebriated Bartuk pushed a wagon with Tiny Tim. The race was largely neck and neck, and turned hostile in the end as Tiny Tim created a small hole in front of the other wagon as Grubbyfug slingshotted fruit into Bartuk's face. Kurdan and Grubbyfug just barely crossed the finish line first.
When the archery competition began, Grubbyfugs and Tiny Tim signed up to compete while Bartuk worked the crowd to bet.
While Tiny Tim was unable to qualify, Grubbyfugs qualified for the final rounds with Rusty Dragon owner Ameiko Jin, noble Aldern Foxglove, and a poor local waif. Grubbyfugs made it to the final round where here and Ameiko were speed shooting to hit an apple. Grubbyfugs pulled off the shot a hair quicker, and she one a masterwork crafted bow.
The final ceremonies were to bless the opening of the new cathedral, but it was shortly interrupted by goblins attacking the city. With a creepy song, the goblins assaulted the crowd and caused a panic. The adventurers quickly fought back. The mad creatures were as interested in theft and destruction as they were in battle.
As the battle raged all around them, Bartuk joined the mayor and Ameiko in protecting some children while the rest of the adventurers turned to deal with a goblin warchanter and a pack of gobs turned pyromaniacs. The warchanter tried to use devilishly clever goblin insults, but was cut down without any causing harm.
The fight spread from the open common area to a nearby alley where Aldern was being attacked by goblins... including one riding some kind of hairless dog-like beast. The adventurers made short work of the monsters, saving Aldern--- who promised them a reward.
The battles around the city appeared to be quieting down, and the mayor thanked the adventurers as she lead some guards to patrol the city.
