Hool Marshes

The Hool Marshes? Aye, I've walked their paths. Some of the most beautiful grasses hiding the most deadly of creatures. I'd love to have a painting, but you couldn't pay me enough Gold to go back there. No sire. Not now. Not ever. -Elshen, a Keoland Merchant
The Hool Marshes appear to be a dismal, lifeless place, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Mounds of grasses separate the winding stagnate streams filled with fiddler crabs, worms and the occasional hunting osprey. The long lush sea grasses provide cover for a vibrant ecosystem filled with frogs, newts, alligators, snakes and goblins. Hidden with a moss-covered grove of Hangman trees, Gwyneth Hemlock waits to lure lost and unsuspecting travelers off the safe path and into her lair.   Mergandore Pool Few sorcerers have been to to the hool marshes, but many are familiar with Mergandore Pool Water. The water is used to refine [Crystal fuel gems. The water in the pool is mixed with a silver mist. Some speculation links the mist with spirits from one of the planar dimensions, but this is deeply disputed in the magical community. What is not disputed is the dangerous and inhospitable area that serves as a natural protecting barrier from prying individuals.   Willowisps The will'o'wisps provide soft eery glow over the marsh ponds, luring unsuspecting travelers off of the path and into the depths of the swamp. They feed off of the desperate and potent emotions of the lost. While they remain primarily interested in their own chaotic purposes, they have been known to lure people towards Gwyneth Hemlock and feast off of the negative emotions she is able to evoke.   Ainile Alligators The Hool Marshes are home to the Ainile alligators. They are hunted for their distinctive, ruby-tinted scales. Feirecly territorial, they are one of the more well-documented threats in the area. They usually grow to be 10-12 feet long and burrow in shallow muddy banks of the marshlands. The Blaque Farm has made a name for itself by harvesting these creatures for refined leather.
