Conductor

As a member of the Undercurrent, conductors are responsible for making sure escaping slaves, called Juweles , reach Keoland safely. They can come from various backgrounds, but commonly were sympathetic citizens of the Sea Prince Nations, passionate abolitionists in Keoland interested in returning their fellow citizens back home, and freed slaves braving slave conditions to free fellow slaves from their desperate situation. Each background provides its own set of insights and resources that allow the undercurrent to reach its goal.   Slaves are considered some of the most things a large house can own, enslaved individuals are closely monitored. In addition to having a tracking stone pierced in their right ear, slaves must wear a mask with their owner's house crest at all times. Because the mask can only be removed by the owner, the mask is difficult to get and even harder to forge. The mask covers the top half of a slave's face, making it nearly impossible for conductors to find a specific individual and for slaves to identify each other. Escaped slaves have experienced these oppressive conditions and have worked hard to educate other conductors on ways to identify potential juweles.   Sympathetic members of the Sea Prince Nation have been known to act as conductors. Because the salve's identity is concealed, it is possible for an aristocratic conductor to hide a juwele by having them masquerade as a slave in their household until a safe ship is available. Both aristocratic and non-aristocratic conductors are also able to navigate through the city with more flexibility and less suspicion other conductors.   Keoland conductors are best equipped to identify and return slaves home before they reach The Ember Isles /The Bloody Islands. They primarily coordinate transportation of juweles once they reach a coastal city. When a Keoland conductor has an interest in freeing a specific slave, they have been known to operate on land. However, these operations have a lower success rate that routes created and run by the other conductors.
