Calling of Strife
General Information
The Calling of Strife encompasses the Death and War domains. It includes ten major gods and goddesses (domain, alignment, symbol, and associations below). It is based on the belief that everyone must experience death and war in their lifetime. The wars could be simple, like the battle between farms over a specific plot or where the border of their land truly lies. It could be political, like the conquest of votes in Solar City between the Duke and the Council of Nobles. These wars and the inevitable deaths are not something to fear, and they are not negative. They are the natural progression of existance, and the followers of Strife aim to assist others in moving through these tumultous times.
Major Events
Mrykul's Death
The official cause of death is unknown for Myrkul, but many suspect foul play. His mortal body was found in the eastern mountains and the pantheon quickly confirmed he no longer spoke to them. How long he had been dead is still a mystery. The remaining gods and goddesses in Strife broke into four factions. Bane led one, claiming that a firm and steady rule was needed to find Myrkul's killer. Kelemvor led another, claiming that as the God of the Dead, he was the closest to Myrkul in motive and thus could most easily absorb the deceased god's temples. Tempus rules the last, stating that as the God of War, he represents the domains best. That had been, after all, how the God of Death came to rule the Calling which encompasses Death and War. Finally, Tyr and Shar refused to take part in the squabbling, claiming the most proper method to find a new master was to let Myrkul's worshippers separate themselves into new temples after their grieving. Then, whichever god or goddess received the most support would become the new master.
