Gholark

In Gholark, every sentient being follows the precepts of their Calling. There are five Callings across the eight pious domains: The Calling of Virtue, with the Life and Light domains, the Calling of Entropy, with the Nature and Tempest domains, the Calling of Strife, with the War and Death domains, the Calling of Secrets, with the Trickery domain, and the calling of Enlightenment, with the Knowledge domain. Followers can be nominated to ascend within their Calling once every ten years. It is difficult, and rarely is one nominated 5 times, ascending them to a High Priest.   Twenty years ago, the Master of Strife, the God of Death Mrykul, was murdered. No one knows how or when. This was unprecedented, and chaos erupted within the Calling of Strife. The remaining gods, 9 they were, split into four factions. Three gods started a war for who would be the new Master of Strife. Bane, the God of Tyranny, had one follower, Loviatar. Kelemvor, the God of the Dead, had one follower, Talona. Tempus, the God of War, came out with two followers, Torm and Bhaal. The gods Tyr and Shar refused to take sides, agreeing with the other four Callings that the new Master of Strife should be naturally selected through the worshiping of civilizations.   Twenty years of unrest have follow Mrykul's death, and now the stakes are getting higher. The factions are striking out, fighting not just amongst themselves, but attacking other Callings. They have been equally matched in strength thus far, and need support from other gods. They plan to take this support by brute force.
