Silveria

Silveria is a large city in the Republican heartland that once served as the capital for the Elven Dominion.
The city is famous for it's artistic architchture that has been preserved through numerous generations. Parts of Silvera are unstable as Republican forces and elven nationalists regurally fight in the cities older districts.

Demographics

65% of the city's population is elven, with the rest mainly being humanand aarakocra. When the city was under Dominion control, 90% of it's inhabitants were elves, with the rest beinh human slaves.

Defences

Siveria has a large military presence due to the ongoing elven nationalist insurgency. Though there are very few defensive buildings in the city as the Dominion never belived that their enemies could reach the city limits.

Industry & Trade

Many luxury goods are produced, sold and exported in Silveria. This industry makes up most of the city's profit.

Infrastructure

Silveria is often considered to be the pinnacle of elven architecture. Sleek structures primarily built of marble and moonstone dominate the city. Since the Republican takeover, many of the cobblesone roads have been paved over with asphalt to better accomodate motro vehicles, much to longtime residents dismay.
The city sits at the confluence of the Adreal and Queznor rivers. Small rivers snake between the rivers through downtown. The smaller rivers were terraformed to flow in straight lines that lead dirctly from the Adrela and Queznor to the Royal Palace located on an artificial island in the center of the waterways.

Districts

Silveria's central and west ends are very affluent and beautifully constructed districts. By contrast, the southern and eastern wards are more poverty sticken areas where crime and terrorism run rampant.
It is ill advised to travel to the east and south wards unless you are armed or in a group. Elven Nationalists are very active in this part of the city and regularly clash with the Republican army. Some streets and roadways are littered with IEDs or are infamous for being common ambush points.

History

Silveria was made after the elves arrived on Getrea with the intention of recreating the elegance of Kalu. Over time the city developed more and more and became a sprawling metropolis. Despite this, it mostly maintained the sleek, clean and bright architecture that made it famous. At the height of Dominion power, Silveria was considered the most beautiful city in all of Ghala
During Operation Mamba, Silveria was taken after a 4 week battle. On the final day of the battle, Republican troops stormed the Royal Palace and cut through the Royal Guards. When they reached the throne room, general Julius Bozeman ordered the king and queen to be tied up. When they were restrained, he used his Katana to behead the two royals.
With the king and queen dead and the Republican flag flying over the royal palace, the dominion was no more.
With Silveria under Republican control, a rapid process of modernization began in the city. Cobblestone roads were paved over, factories and a power plant were built in the mostly underutilized north end of the city, buildings were connected to the electrical grid and the highway system was expanded to pass through the city.
Ever since the fall of the Dominion, there has been a near constant insurgency in the city as those who still belive in the idea of elven superiority fight against the Republicans. As such, the city has been more famous in recent years for it's violence and unrest than for it's architecture and affluence.

Points of interest

The Royal Palace located in the city center at the confluence of the various rivers that snake through the city dominates the skyline. The Palace has 7 church like spires of varying heights, the highest one standing at 740 ft. Though it no longer serves as a place for monarchs, the city government's headquarters is here and the first 2 floors are dedicated as a meusem of elven history. The museum has numerous artifacts, paintings and exhibits made to celebrate the brighter spots of elven history.
Across from the Royal Palace stands the Pioneer's Obelisk, which memorializes those who travelled all the way from Iyass to start a new life on Getrea.

Geography

Silveria sits at the confluence of the Adreal and Queznor rivers. Several smaller rivers snake through the city. The city sits on mostly flatlands, making parts of it susceptible to flooding during spring and summer months.
