Cold Iron
Cold Iron, while not difficult to make, is difficult to obtain as a special material is needed to forge it properly. It can be made by taking ordinary iron and laying holly leaves on the hot iron before pounding it out with a hammer made of Ulvarhrim. This process needs to be repeated several times to ensure that the cold properties of the Ulvarhrim is imparted properly into the iron.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Cold Iron has the same physical properties as standard iron with the exception being that it is supernaturally cold to the touch at all times. It has the same dark grey appearance as standard wrought iron but upon closer inspection is laced with shimmering blue crystals throughout it. Due to the manner in which it is forged, it is incredibly difficult to melt. If it is melted, it loses its supernatural properties and returns to being standard iron.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Cold Iron was created to combat extraplanar creatures such as Fey, Fiends, and Incorporeal Undead. As such, is highly effective against creatures of those types. Creatures descended from those beings feel the effects of being in contact with Cold Iron.
Changelings, Elves, Satyrs, Reborn, and Tieflings all feel uncomfortable while in contact with Cold Iron. They feel a burning sensation on whichever part of their body the Cold Iron is in contact with.
