Following the collapse of the Yulan-Tai Empire, many former slaves of the Empire flee into the Huri desert becoming the first humans to live in the region full time, and forming the basis for who would become the Huri peoples.

Following the collapse of the Yulan-Tai Empire, many former slaves of the Empire flee into the Huri desert in a desperate attempt to escape the violence of the collapsing empire. These people led by a figure whose actual given name but is known as Mshneli establish themselves, quickly adopting the ways of the Orcish peoples living there already. These people over the course of a few generations become known as the Huri, while those who had interbred with the Orcish natives become known as the Aarumites.   The arrival of humans to the Huri desert, once the Huri had the opportunity to adapt traditional practices, greatly changed the relationship between sentient and non-sentient animals in the region. The traditional orcish means of hunting for food was eventually eclipsed by the adoption of animal husbandry and nomadic herding. This practice spread quickly into the interior of the continent and was adopted by most people of the central steppe.
