Lucia Valeria Vatinius (/ lu:kiɜ vəlɘria vətɪniəs /)
Λουξια Υαλερια Υατινιουσ
Luica Valeria Vatinius (a.k.a. Riven)
Lucia Valeria Vatinius, who is frequently known as Riven to those she met before the end of her exile, or shortly after it, is the Planetouched daughter of Ulpia Victoria Vatinius, and Gaius Lucian Vatinius, and nominally at least, the heir apparent to the throne of the Exarchate of Nikea. She has mostly been however, an adventurer, working with a small party of roving travelers who have largely been seen operating in Southern Galisea and Northern Felora on missions for unknown employers, or liberating slaves in Aeilla to unknown ends.
Physical Description
Body Features
Valeria is unusually tall for an Ilosi woman, 1.7 standing meters tall possessing a lean, and indeed somewhat androgynous frame, weighing about 59 kilograms. Due in large part to her extensive martial and athletic training under the tutelage of Alexios Laskaros, she can move fairly gracefully and indeed is a skilled, though not exceptional athlete and gymnast as a result. Facing up to other Aeillans, she cuts a very imposing figure, though this effect is lessened when compared to other taller peoples, and doubly so among societies where the average person is significantly bulkier.
Facial Features
Valeria is known to have "noble" features, a relatively strong jaw, and intense eyes. She generally has an olive skin tone, though she is somewhat darker than her parents on account of having spent more of her life, active and outdoors, though she is still lighter than the bulk of the population of Southern Galisea. She has jaw length black hair that she generally keeps tied back at almost all times, drawing attention to a round overall head shape.
Identifying Characteristics
As one of the planetouched, notably an Aasimar, Valeria possess a certain strangeness about her at all times. In addition to the normal unusually, and seemingly unnaturally well proportioned features, there is a slight hint of a glow reflecting from her whenever presented with a light source of any meaningful power. This manifests more dramatically when she is threatened or angry as a much stronger aura, oftentimes even causing her normally dark eyes to fill with white light, and even causing spectral raven wings to appear upon her back.
Special abilities
As a fully empowered Efimérios of Isaura, Valeria can claim the blessings of her goddess, usually harnessing this power in the form of magic. Valeria has become quite skilled in the use of magic, having become able to cast spells of the highest circles of magic attainable by mortal beings. Additionally, as part of her extraplanar heritage, she can, when threatened allow celestial energy to pour from her body, causing her to glow with radiant, energy, enhancing her attacks, and even allowing her to sprout ephemeral wings and fly, if only for a limited time.
Apparel & Accessories
Valeria was formerly a fairly plain dresser, adopting the apparel of a desert hermit. As she has taken a more active role in Getninian affairs however, she has symbolically reclaimed her status, having taken to wearing fashionable doublets and well constructed armor. She is generally seen wearing a diadem that draws one's attention to her, and has recently started wearing purple, a color generally reserved only for the highest nobility, much more frequently than she used to, most often wearing a carefully embroidered purple arming doublet underneath her heavier metal cuirass. One clothing element that has remained fairly consistent however, is a small blue scarf which she has almost always been seen wearing since coming out of her exile in the desert.

Education
Valeria was given the best education available in the Exarchate of Nikea, being schooled directly by court tutors, the court mage, and given martial training by one Alexios Laskaros. She was given a broad liberal education including literacy, fluency in both her native tongue, as well as those religious scholarship and trade in the Aeillan region, and heavy theological education in preparation for her eventual service as a part time Pandroi Efimérios. She also received military training in preparation for her role as the next Exarchissa of Nikea, including being made to direct her own campaign against pirates threatening Nikean interests and trade routes to Leandris.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Valeria accomplished much her youth, achieving a writ of Chaplaincy at the age of 18, and successfully putting an end to the pirate raids of Admiral Sosa at age 22. She became one of the youngest Vatinii to undergo the coming of age rites, becoming, in the eyes of Aeillan society, and adult, at 16 years of age. After returning from exile, she along with the rest of her associates uncovered a conspiracy by Feloran revanchists and put an end to their plot, eliminated a dangerous and violent Eriganese ruler, and help to organize the fundation of a new society on the small coastal island of Mysteria near the Aeillan coast.
Failures & Embarrassments
The greatest embarrassment to which can be ascribed Valeria Vatinius is the alleged murder of one Avery Olmsdottir, a crime for which she was blamed and exiled. Ironically enough however, many of her post-exile failures can be tied up with her achievements. As a response to the ending of the covert plot by the New Felorans, she accidentally started a war in Felora, and nearly did the same in Erigan, and indeed the actions of her group and herself have escalated tensions in Aeilla particularly as her party has liberated hundreds of slaves from the hands of the Spathoi, and other slaver states.
Intellectual Characteristics
As a result of lived experience, Valeria is sagacious and wise beyond her hears, and even more so compared to her apparent age. She possesses a fairly broad base of academic knowledge, and a further understanding of faith and theology. Lived experience, and meditation in exile have further enhanced the latter, as well as sharpening Valeria's survival skills well beyond what she was educated to do as an Aeillan noblewoman. She was also well trained in rhetoric and persuasion, and can be considered an elite expert in doing so.
Valeria often presents a stoic maternalistic front to the wider public, as befitting her training as an Aeillan noble. As a result she sometimes has a hard time meaningfully connecting on a person level with most other people, taking a long time to properly warm to somebody and an even longer time to think of someone as a close friend or loved one. She is however, fiercely loyal to those she does consider friends, and though she would not care to admit those, a deeply passionate loathing of enemies.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Valeria is generally motivated by what she considers best for her loved ones, her people, and her faith in that order. She generally wishes to see her friends safe and healthy, and tries to protect them to the best of her ability. Likewise she similarly wants to see the prosperity of the Aeillan people, and has tried to work with those who would seek the peaceful reuinification of Aeillan civilization under one banner, though Valeria, having seen firsthand the oftentimes brutal nature of court politics favors republicanism, and the restoration of the Consulship over Imperial prestige. If all these things are settled, Valeria is bound, and indeed sometimes even compelled by the goddess she was dedicated to to protect the faith, and serve dutifully as one of the clergy, if one on a very long leash.
Hygiene
Valeria is generally a very fastidious groomer, even when exploring through hostile wilderness, taking great care to keep her hair neat, and her clothing and armor if not clean, at least in well maintained condition. She will regularly bathe, particularly in Aeillan cities where she will make liberal use of the local bathhouses, and even enjoys these doses of "civilization" when she isn't on an adventure. She is eminently pragmatic however, and should she be made to choose between looking good, and the practicalities of adventuring, she will reliably choose the latter.
Social
Family Ties
Much of Valeria's family is dead at this point, as she as a planetouched as a notably greater lifespan than much of her human family, and as a result of familial infighting and hostile politicking has seen most of her family killed off by unnatural means. As a result, Valeria can really only be said to still be in contact with her mother, with whom she plots to protect what is left of the familial legacy as it is likely the Vatinius line is coming near extinction.
Religious Views
Valeria is a pious woman, having spent much of her childhood in study and dedication to Isaura the Moon Goddess, and as a result takes matters of the faith quite seriously. She believes firmly in the protection of the souls of the dead from malign interference in their journey to the afterlife, and is strongly opposed to necromancy and the disruption of the dead. She is generally against the wanton shedding of blood though the realities of the world she lives and her ultimate choice of career have tempered this pacifistic instinct.
Wealth & Financial state
Valeria generally can be expected to have at least a few thousand gold coins to her name at any given time. Most of her wealth, at least that she can claim to have any meaningful access to however, is tied up in the form of enchanted items that she frequently uses on adventure. She theoretically has rightful claim to the Exarchate of Nikea, and the wealth and assets that come with the title, however, it is a continually contentious issue, and she cannot meaningfully be said to have access to those assets.
