Dara'ama
Once, the streets of Dara'ama echoed with a dozen languages, as scholars seeking the wisdom of the Daraman archives mingled with those beginning or ending their World Pilgrimage. Today, the Guardians of the Realm patrol every corner, ready to enact the Mad King's sacred plan to protect the Kingdom from its unseen foes...Dara'ama is the capital of the tortle Kingdom of Daramar. It is in the center of the vast plains in the interior of the Kingdom.
Demographics
All of the city's population are Daraman Tortlesians. It is home to King Oréstund, colloquially the Mad King of Daramar, who resides within an ever-fortifying castle, which is home to another 100 people, although this number continues to dwindle as Oréstund franitcally dismisses and executes members of his court and advisors. There was formerly a community of 50 tabaxi working as artisans and traders, however they have been banned from entering the city's recently finished walls.
Government
Oréstund runs the capital directly, with a legion of his most loyal Guardians of the Realm.
Infrastructure
Recently, a 13 meter high wall around the city has been constructed, as King Oréstund deemed the capital too vulnerable in the flat, exposed plains, despite centuries of safety in the hidden plains of Daramar. Everything else in the city however, has been left to neglect as the Mad King funnels ever increasing resources into training and fortifications. It is rumoured that he even wants to begin work on a stone wall,
History
Founded in the early years of the Late Feloran Imperial era as the site of the Gathering, when the elders of the various Daraman clans determined a neutral meeting place was needed instead of rotating amongst their clan holes. Ayol-cai Kielmi II elevated the status of the city in 1570 LIE, when she established her permanent court here. Most Ayol-cai onwards would take their permanent court here, after their World Pilgrimage.
Tourism
In recent years, tourism has declined to become nonexistent as the Mad King has forbade travel within the Kingdom0 without sanction from the court.
