Ubados
Ubados, also once known as the Ruled lands, or Omadon's lands are filled with dry plains for miles. Excluding the clustered mountain ranges and hills amongst the countryside there is little in way of cultivation. During the mild winters the grass becomes golden, and in mild summers which lead to green grasses. Excluding the Dasi plant, the area is near barren.
Many wildlife are herbivores eating off the vast abundance of grass. In the earth live moles, gophers, and other underground life that thrive. At night, the life escapes into the air where snakes, insects and even special scorpions exists.
Country’s history
Before the rise of Omadon the country was simplistic with herds of bison and water buffalo for shepherds to migrate. Was free lands for most of its time with the land being dry and infertile for much to grow. What did grow wasn’t much and even though there were some spots for fish in the rivers the only true growing locations were at the ports.
If there was a small lake or body of water there would most likely be a small village or family nearby. With the wildlife surprisingly being numerous feeding off the grass and plants. Although the land wasn’t able to grow vegetables or fruits it was able to have one produce in abundance. The Dasi fruit which was indigenous to the region could create two edible fruits as it grew. There was a fruit with edible seeds which when digested would be easily sprout soon after in the earth. The other edible portion was the flowers, but would make one cough or sneeze for a few minutes after eating. The coughing and sneezing would help the flower’s pollen become air borne using the enzymes of the salive to grow ‘wings’ when dried in the open air.
The culture didn’t leave much to be raided leaving little violence to flourish within the countryside. Since the inhabitants settled into the land no real growth until Hy-Diyu’s changes.
Borum
The one city in Ubados with more than 10 thousand people. As a port city connected to the trade routes it was the first cities to establish a foundation to grow. Compared to many other cities there is no real army to defend against foreign invaders. During the growth a band of pirate ships thought it would be worth the risk to invade. History knows this as a failure, but it historians agreed that if they attacked a day after it would have lead to failure. The reason for this defeat was nearly 100 Macha warriors were traveling to Servate Mesto(read Macha traditions for more information). This lucky event lead to an agreement between the city of Vilenda and Borum to create a direct trade with soldiers and different produce constantly being present within the city.
As the city grew and pilgrimages started landing more often at the port many Tieflings found refuge within. Grateful for a place to stay without being turned away the population of Tieflings grew to being a bigger part of the community. Compared to the rest of the world Borum has the biggest population of Tieflings anywhere.
This has created a degrading title for the city called the demon city. With the history of the city disproving the idea only people who fear Tieflings without knowing who they are or racists are the only ones who use it.
Caetoli (Omadon’s Lair)
Although the name has changed since the end of the Dark History many still refer to it as Omadon’s Lair. Caetoli from written record has been considered the most impressive, intimidating city to ever make its mark on the world. Even from Bongis and Va Cas the tallest of structures can be seen on clear days.
It's been generally accepted that no one should travel to the city. A mix of fear and not wanting to deal with the ‘evil’ city, people haven’t visited in over a millennium. The old trails and trade routes that were once well established have converted back to nature.
A story has been traveling around that some people can see flashes within the city. This is never confirmed as whenever someone claims to have seen it, nothing from the dead of night is seen.
An old tome of the city tales of the city during Omadon’s rule. Nihli Onyxgleam was the dwarven author that wrote extensively about the coming rule of Omadon and the city as it grew. The village was formed as Hy-Diyu with the springs of the surrounding mountains and the indigenous wildlife being it's only notable features. In the tomes Onyxgleam wrote as the cities mages began changing where she was captured and left in prison for nearly a year. By the time she left and had the ability to write the once village turned in to a sprawling metropolis of white towers. Unimaginable amounts of magic was used to form the architecture into near impossible feats of creation. Many have come to the conclusion that Nihli must have partake of narcotics while writing certain passages. At the time where the war to defeat Omadon was at its end the city was nearly 20 miles end to end.
Nihli Onyxgleam was a dwarf who was born before the Dark History in the city now known as Caetoli. She died many years after the attack on Omadon’s lair writing extensively on what she saw. With not ability with magic she was to become a miner of the mountain before finding an art with the quill. Her writings have been recorded numerous times so finding her books are in numerous libraries. Historians have made noticed that of all the work and freedom she had to walk the city under the rule of Omadon she never once entered the palace or write of what Omadon looked like.
During the battle the tactics that lead to the liberation of mages weren’t working as the urban environment lead to sneak attacks and a strategy never planned. With the buildings be from 10 to 40 stories tall were attacks from the half undead fell smashing into the resistors. This lead to the outer area of the city turning to rubble as resistors destroyed the weight bearing columns which collapse the buildings. The center of the city still remained stable as the strategy to jump onto the resistors ended.
The center buildings remained untouched even today even though they towered thousands of feet into the sky. Below the tallest structures began a fully man-made structure with vast halls longer than the city. The underground wasn’t developed beyond the foundation of columns the size of giant sequoias holding up the city above.
As for the lair, there is nothing written about it. Even those who wrote about the events prior and after never describe the lair itself.
People
Two types of people live in Ubados. Those whose family lived prior to the Dark History and outcasts. As the need for people to stay within the lands diminished there was a replacement of outcasts looking for acceptance to take their place. Many towns, villages within the mainland became abandoned where only the port cities could survive off the trade and limited agriculture.
Mages
The port cities are small and can't turn away anyone willing to help. Although there is worry, all mages are treated as any local. The only exceptions are those who have clear I'll intent. If a person is caught committing evil offenses they are ostracized into exile with nothing but the clothes they are wearing.
“Live for peace, yet know war is coming”
This saying consists in the mind of all people who originate from Omadon’s land. Except perhaps the completely ‘abandoned’ city of Caitoli.
These people live exclusively on the coasts, mainly ports big enough to sustain trade, but none have grown since the end of the last era. As trade has provided the main sources of survival for the people most of the ports inhabitants are pilgrims awaiting to travel Sevarte Mesto.
Another common saying is "Prepare for the worst, but hope for the best." has derived from the consistent fear of the far inlands. Although no real conflict has traspired since the reign of Omadon, nearly each inhabitant are trained in extensive combat from adolescence past puberty. It isn't uncommon for an Ubadian to have master 2 weapons before adulthood, one being of more exotic capability.
Magic is accepted but feared. Any who use magic, except warlocks, come to an understanding that if war comes and the sound of influence begins, they are warned or sacrificed if they do not leave. The past centuries have weakened this resolve, but similar to their beliefs on war, its always in the back of their mind.
Narra Scorpion
By looks alone the narra scorpian looks dangerous. Normally, a scorpions sting can be fatal, but this specific breed doesn’t inject its subject with venom. Its stinger bulb contains a high narcotic used to create a blissful sensation. For smaller animals, like foxes, gophers and rats, it puts them into a doped state where the scorpion can slowly eat the animal until death. For bigger animals like humans or bison it doses them into a jubilant mood that can verge on manic.
