Dvekmenus Ethnicity in Geshkara | World Anvil

Dvekmenus

The Dvekmenus are a Vannic people native to Sossis. They are the descendants of the earlier Duekmen mixed with other peoples over time, largely the Salics.   A far reaching people known as much for their conflict with each other as their conflict with others. They are considered the oldest of the human races, their history stretching back further than any other. They control much of Sossis, but their states fall into conflict and borders shift often. Their states are divided between several Houses, which control all or most of the land. The lands may have official recognition, or simply be areas of de facto control; regardless the Houses are often thought to hold more power than the crown.   They are generally split into two groups: the Northerners and the Southerners. The Northerners live rough and difficult lives in the sparsely populated, untamed North of the continent. Many a fine ranger comes from the North of Sossis. They are often enraptured by the unknown, an extension of their childhoods spent playing in dense forests or ruins in the far North. Southerners live lives not too different from their siblings up North, but their more temperate winters and open plains long tamed by man makes for a less dangerous, if less exciting, existence.   They are magically inclined; whether by nature or by virtue of their lands containing the majority of Elven ruins from which magic was learned is unknown. They are the most magically inclined of the human races, beaten only by the Dynitians, whose rarity cedes the majority of magical theory and discovery to them.   They are tall and slender, often exceeding six feet. They tend to have rougher features, fair skin, and hair of brunette to blonde.
