Blood Drip Tradition / Ritual in Genetic | World Anvil

Blood Drip

The Blood Drip, involving a large blood pack, is a vampire's rite of passage among the covens of vampires on Genetic. Lately, it has become a mundane ritual for new vampires, but it wasn't always that way.   Most Blood Drips are done at the Garlic Gang Bar, as they have the best setup, doing most of their trading with extraterrestrials, and are directly linked to a large vampire crypt where coffins are safely kept. The Garlic Gang will usually have at least one or two members be apart of the ritual to ensure the new vampires aren't being improperly fed and to keep track of the style of vampires being brought into the vampire population on Genetic.

History

The tradition started with the third vampire coven that formed on Genetic. New vampires had a habit of over-feeding, leading to a larger percentage of berserk vampires when they needed to feed. This over-feeding lead to starvation among the first two vampire covens and massive waves of in-fighting. The leader of the third coven took new vampires, had them restrained, and drip fed them blood. Some vampires perished, but the idea was refined over time to create vampires who would not go berserk when it was time to feed.   Within the covens, the Blood Drip ritual softened the problem of berserk vampires and in-fighting, allowing for cooler heads to prevail most of the time. Outside of the covens, within the flocks, the Blood Drip is rarely used due to lack of resources to perform the ritual.

Execution

New vampires are taken into a room, restrained with their mouths open, and drip fed blood until they stop fidgeting.

Components and tools

Blood packs are obtained from either the human refugee camps littered across the land or from any extraterrestrial space faring species that is willing to come to the planet and trade. Restraints are generally a mixture of physical materials, such as bands and straps, and a variety of magic.

Participants

Leaders of covens and packs are to oversee the process, stepping in whenever their strength is needed.   Elder members directly monitor the ritual until the process is done, unless the new vampire is revealed to be prone to excessive violence.
