Gliderjet

The gliderjet is a vehicle that is commonly used by Laojans traveling outside their homeland. In Laoja, most natives are capable of rudimentary flight, which is impossible in the increased gravity of the rest of Gelinia. The gliderjet was developed to allow Laojans to travel quickly and be closer to the sky.   Gliderjets typically have at least two broad wings, a harness for the rider, and geodic jets attached to the ends of the wings or back of the vehicle. Different designs can have multiple wings, harnesses or seats for multiple riders, and more advanced jet systems. Simpler designs are the most popular, as heavier gliders require more fuel and are slower.   Gliderjets are fairly basic technology, and as such are not usually equipped with weapons, armor, or other equipment. However, they have been used during wartime for aerial surveillance, or to drop bombs or burning tar onto enemy ships and fortifications. Gliderjets are very common in Laoja, and due to the inefficiency of gliderjet vs gliderjet dogfighting, they are rarely used in internal conflicts. Most military gliderjets see use against raiding parties from Baiyotes or pirates.

Propulsion

Gliderjets are not powered by an engine in the traditional sense. Instead, they use geodic jets, which are small containers that use windcrystals to generate thrust. The simplest design is simply a geode with a pinprick hole pointed backwards, which constantly expels air until its magic runs out.   Laojan engineers have improved on the technology to create jets with throttle mechanisms, ability to adjust the direction, or even point in different directions at once. The fundamental limit, however, is the fuel of the internal geode. The more complicated the machinery, the faster the fuel depletes, and it is extremely difficult to replenish geodes outside of Laoja. Practically sized geodes rarely have capacity for flight longer than an hour or two, so long flights require frequent stops to replace the jet source.
