The town is moderately sized with roughly 1000 buildings, The structures in the town are built of marble with pitched roofs with brightly colored shingles. The entrances and windows are dramatic peaked archways, with leaded glass windows. Cartabria is fortified and surrounded by a substantial timber palisade. The wall is able to be patrolled by guards on a raised walkway. Visitors to the city pass through a main gate that is barred in the evenings. A few watch towers are placed around the city, though are likely sporadic. It was decided by some authority that a town was needed here, funds and materials were set aside for its founding, and it was established. You are surprised as to how few people live in the town. Roughly a fifth of the town’s population lives outside the town proper.

The population of Cartabria is 50% Tabaxi, 25% Gnome, 15% Goliath, and 10% are a mix of other races. the majority of the people are able to provide for themselves, most of the town’s population have enough to live a modest life. and those without are a minority.

Cartabria is currently under military rule where the town is controlled by a sergeant and several soldiers.

Visitors to the city pass through a main gate that is barred in the evenings. A few watch towers are placed around the city, though are likely sporadic, Cartabria has a sheriff, as well as a handful of deputies that are sanctioned by the town’s governing entity. There is an Infantry Squad of 10 men with a Sergeant that is in town trying to hide from an enemy war party.

The town has attained a mild degree of success and visibility in the region. Cartabria imports Saffron, Ale, and Pigs and exports Clay, Cinnamon, and Wool. The market is tight and it only has room for a few key vendor stalls. Vendor stalls are acquired on a first-come first-served basis. Merchants line up prior to market day and those at the front of the line are given first pick of the available stall spaces, provided they can pay the fee for the day. Excess vendors are allowed to set up stalls but the town Watch does not patrol or monitor these areas.
