Weather Wizard

During the Ashen Age, the wizard-kings of the Magocracies were known for being able to control weather to their liking, driving away the clouds of ash covering the sky. The tradition of weathercraft has been passed down generations of wizards ever since those days. Many high-end airships employ a weather wizard among their crew to help smoothen the journey.

School of Weather Features

  • 2nd level: Exposed to the Elements, Weather Magic
  • 6th level: Adjusted to the Climate
  • 10th level: Weathervane
  • 14th level: Master of the Weather
  •

    Exposed to the Elements

Starting at 2nd level when you choose this school of magic, your attacks and spellcasting are boosted by the current weather conditions as long as you are standing outdoors. Instead of rolling the damage dice for a specific type during a corresponding weather, you deal maximum damage instead:
  • During a cold and windy weather, you deal maximum cold damage.
  • During a hot and clear weather, you deal maximum fire damage.
  • During a rainy and stormy weather, you deal maximum lightning damage.
  •   Certain spells and features can temporarily alter the weather in a concentrated area to meet the criteria for this feature. Each altered weather condition is only activated after the spell or feature is used, lasts for 1 minute and affects an area within 30 feet of the spell's or feature's area of effect.
  • Using spells and features that create light in an area (such as light, dawn and sunbeam) changes the surroundings to clear.
  • Using spells and features that create water in an area (such as create or destroy water, control water and tsunami) changes the surroundings to rainy.
  • Using spells and features that create winds in an area (such as gust of wind, wind wall and whirlwind) changes the surroundings to windy.
  • Using spells and features that deal cold damage to an area (such as cold breath, cone of cold and ice storm) changes the surroundings to cold.
  • Using spells and features that deal fire damage to an area (such as fire breath, fireball and flame strike) changes the surroundings to hot.
  • Using spells and features that deal lightning damage to an area (such as lightning breath, call lightning and lightning bolt) changes the surroundings to stormy.
  •

    Weather Magic

Also at 2nd level, you have trained to control natural phenomena. You can copy the following spells into your spellbook for half the cost of gold and time. Every spell on this list is considered a wizard spell for you and you can choose to learn it when you gain wizard levels, even if it is not on the common wizard spell list.
  • 1st Level: create or destroy water, faerie fire, fog cloud, ice knife
  • 2nd Level: dust devil, gust of wind, moonbeam, skywrite
  • 3rd Level: call lightning, daylight, sleet storm, wind wall
  • 4th Level: control water, ice storm, storm sphere, watery sphere
  • 5th Level: cloudkill, commune with nature, control winds, dawn
  • 6th Level: sunbeam, wind walk
  • 7th Level: fire storm, whirlwind
  • 8th Level: control weather, incendiary cloud, sunburst, tsunami
  • 9th Level: storm of vengeance
  •

    Adjusted to the Climate

At 6th level, you have grown accustomed to the changing weather. When the conditions are met for a damage type boost determined by the Exposed to the Elements feature, you also gain resistance to the boosted damage type.

    Weathervane

By 10th level, you have learned to manipulate your magic to counteract the environment you are in, to better face the threats that the monsters dwelling there present. You gain an additional damage type to be boosted in certain weather conditions:
  • During a cold and windy weather, you deal maximum cold and lightning damage.
  • During a hot and calm weather, you deal maximum fire and cold damage.
  • During a rainy and stormy weather, you deal maximum lightning and fire damage.
  • This feature also affects the resistances you gain from the Adjusted to the Climate feature.

    Master of the Weather

At 14th level, you have mastered controlling weather with ease. Once per day, you can cast one spell from your Weather Magic list that you have prepared without spending a spell slot. You can cast it at any level you have spell slots for.
