STATIC 46: Finding the Forge

Wherein The Blinkertons receive a map of unknown utility & make their way toward more ruinous environs.

A Map to the Forge

The Interdimensional Blinkerton Detective Agency completed the process of reassembling the crystal--more like a battery, really--of Skybridge by acquiring its final piece from a couple of bone devils and a bone devil overseer. These devils did not part with the shard willingly, but our heroes prevailed in combat. The Blinkertons then made their way back to First Navigator Islay and gave the ghost officer the now complete crystal. Islay used the crystal battery to power up what remains of the Skybridge, utilizing its navigation system to provide an ancient-old map to Kendilziz, the World Forge, which is hopefully still accurate after untold millenia.
The map revealed two routes to Kendilziz--across a massive bridge or through the ruins of a city. Our heroes chose the ruins route and headed out to find the forge after a long rest.

South to the Ruins

Although they now had a direction in which to point themselves, navigating Bonefields still proved to be a dangerous operation. As they moved through the desolate expanse, they fought ossuary leviathans and nameless shepherds, and encountered a Mute Chorus preforming a Silent Rite, a skeletal gardener named Ichorpetal, and a dragon of the void calling herself Abyzrah. While the leviathans and shepherds required marital solutions, the other encounters were able to be resolved without bloodshed. To wit:

• Both Hypatia and Sharkbait assisted in the Silent Rite, earning them a trippy experience and some constitutional vigor.
• Ra'a'l, finding a kindred spirit of blood and bone in Ichorpetal, shared some bonebone tea with Ichorpetal and reminisced about his time in the Blood Garden.
• Abyzrah demanded her hunger for rare magicks be sated or else. Ra'a'l provided Reaper's Wake--a newly gained greatsword--to do just that. The dragon devoured the magic weapon in thanks.

Soon enough, the ruins of the city loomed before them. To get there, they needed to cross a bridge dominated by a towering pillar of shifting bone calling itself the "Guardian of Awarth," who seemed reluctant to allow passage.

And That's Where We Left It

We'll see what the "Guardian of Awarth" has to say to our heroes during our next session.
