General Summary

Wherein the Blinkertons arrive at Cerulean Station

Archivist's Note:
As the Blinkertons moved deeper into the The Ceaseless Drift, the documents that comprise this section of the Blinkerton Chronicle have been heavily damaged. Most are completely illegible, saturated in some sort of purple pulsating goo. Substantive efforts have been undertaken to reconstruct a summary of events, which is what follows here.

At Cerulean Station

After dispatching nightmare fuled iterations of Failure and Crystal Rutabega, our heroes finally made their way to Cerulean Station, a rowdy roadhouse deep in The Ceaseless Drift. Unlike their visit to Eldheim, the Blinkertons maintained their Driftmech forms.   The Station itself was massive, intertwined with a series of hoses and tubes that seemed to provide power for it to function. No music filled the air, but rather a constant deep gutteral bass vibrated the environment. In the corner, there appeared to be a table of dogmechs playing poker. Among the calvacade of strange Driftmechs moved "Essence salesmen," dealing in that rare commodity that seems to be valuable to these entities.   Eventually, all these Driftmechs in one place triggered an "Essence Surge," in which some Driftmechs went haywire and started attacking other mechs. Our heroes were caught up in the thick of this. Daddy Bones squared off against Swilben von Eskenfall, Esquire while Kev-Kev took on something called Endless Eye. Grimblood fought Blackmelt and Slimenaut tangled with Surgeon. Finally, Lichen battled against Danktooth. Eventually, our Blinkertons triumphed in the chaos melee and the Station returned to what passes for normal within its domain.   After talking a bit with Grezmek, who appeared to be in charge of the Station, our adventurers became aware that part of the way to navigate through the Drift is to "Commune" with it. The only way to move in a rapidly changing landscape is to develop the tools by which to to discern its meaning. Fortunately, Grezmek was able to teach them to do just that for the low, low price of five Essence. Our heroes agreed, and began their Communion. It looked a little like this:
  • Grimblood communed by "jacking in" to a crystal. In this, he saw a Bloodstorm, but also saw a way through that storm.
  • Daddy Bones buried himself, went to sleep, dreamed of a crystal monolith.
  • Kev-Kev moved their way through the crystals of the the Drift itself, divining a path to the monolith.
  • Slimenaut smeared goo on to his eyes and stared into the middle distance, but became blinded by the majesty of the Ceaseless.
  • Lichen tried to connect to his network, but was unsuccessful.
All of these varied Communions, and their varied successes, offered a path forward for our heroes, hopefully leading them to Auggie.

A Transformation

Exhausted by their Communion, our Driftmechs powered down to rest. When they awoke, however, they found themselves changed. Their Driftmech forms had transformed into the Driftmechs they battled during the Essence Surge. Strange! But time to press on, regardless.

And That's Where We Left It

We'll see where these new Driftmechs steer our heroes during our next session.

Varied & Sundry Details

  • Of the Dogmechs playing poker, Spyder was the baddest one. That is important information.
  • Our heroes procured and delivered a "rose draught" to Rokzuk, the mighty lich. He gave them two Essence as a reward.

Character(s) interacted with

  • Grezmek--Station bartender and expert at the "Drift Commune" technique
  • Rokzuk--a mighty crystal lich, wants a tasty beverage from the Station
