Crucible of Names: The Yakeer

General Summary

Wherein the Yakeer is undertaken   Once again, it is time for The Yakeer in the Fief of Kh'Fekhek in the Kingdom of Kh'Axros. Our story follows four participants in the rite, hoping to earn themselves a place among the Yakeeri and the prestige of a Yakeeri honorific name. They are:
  • Brawl--a net-mender and, well, brawler, from 'Bilbar
  • Smoky--who travels with their trusty Wildfire Spirit, Hearth
  • Bugs--from the Thousand Thicket, hoping for better chance for triumph in these environs
  • Dusk--a far traveler, also happens to be frogfolk
The following is an excerpt from the report of the Yakeer by presiding Anointed Nulkak of the Three Storms:
  • I observed Yakeer participants engaging in communal activities, including preparing a root stew of some sort, playing a mouth harp in an impromtu music session, and generally investigating the camp for any hint of Yakeer trials
  • I heard that some participants engaged in a "dream fight" with a barbed devil. An ill omen, to be sure, if true.
  • The first trial, that of the mararak stampede, provided formidible opposition for many participants. A few, however, showed admirable capabilities to work together to solve this situation without violence.
  • As is tradition, the second trial tested martial acumen. Several participants were eliminated, with only the strong able to continue.
  • The day's third trial, a rodeo, was enlightening as to how Yakeeri hopefuls dealt with the unexpected.
  • The next morning featured the fourth trail, and was designed to be a straightforward combat with some errant dogmoles. Unexpectedly, a dogmole "juggernaut" appeared. Fortunately, Sarathi the Unnamed was, apparently, in attedance and leapt to the aid of the Yakeer hopefuls...
The parchment here is smudged beyond comprehension
