Pronunciation Guide

Muyska
The language of the ancient people of the land. Most knowledge of the language has been lost since the Foaba - all that is known so far is what can be gleaned from inscriptions, some religious documents, and oral tradition - therefore, very little is known about grammar, syntax, etymology, etc.

  • Word accent is always on the second to last syllable, except when there are two of the same consonant together, then the syllables are equally emphasized, as in Gattak.
  • All letters are articulated - Ch, Qu, and Zh are each considered "one" letter.
Pronunciation
A as in car
E as the "a" in case
I as in pin
O as in so
U as the "oo" in too
Y as the "ee" in meet
Ch as the "sh" in shine
Qu as in quest
Zh as the "ch" in chip

Folwa
The official language of Bramin, it uses the same rules and phonetic sounds as Muyska except that it has a smaller alphabet and does not contain the "Ch", "Qu" or "Zh" sounds. It does have the addition of the Ä which is pronounced as the "ai" in rain.

Pyeske
The language of the Tribes of the Gueta Ko. In Pyeske, the E is pronounced as the "ee" in meet and there is an AY sound that is pronounced as the "ay" in say. Words with double or triple of the same vowel in a row denotes the length of time you hold that vowel sound.
